Olivia Munn, arguably one of the top 5 actors with serious geek cred, has scored a prime time series for fall on NBC.

The show is called "Perfect Couples" and chronicles the relationships of three couples. It stars Kyle Howard, Christine Woods, Dave Walton, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Hayes MacArthur and Olivia Munn.

Not only do I not know who she is, but I also don't understand why an actor getting a job is reason for a thread?

Here's why...

Olivia Munn

...and like Larry says, serious geek cred!

EDIT: Added more geek cred here (http://www.blog.inspiretech.com/hotties/inspiretech-blog-hottie-of-the-week-olivia-munn/).

Meh. She was on Attack of the Show. Now, if she was on Screen Savers before that, I might be interested. Sarah Lane maybe.

Top 5 actors (even with geek cred) ? Sorry but :nono:

Very few actors have actual Geek Cred. Go to an event like ComiCon and ask... many actors show up, do what they have to and run, not walk, out the door fast as their little legs will carry them.

Others show up and embrace the event, spending a great deal of time with attendees.

Olivia Munn travels all over the USA, when she gets to a city and is there for more than a day she picks somewhere to have an event and then tweets it. Thousands show up, and she stays until every last picture, magazine, whatever is signed.

She seems to genuinely care about her fans and makes no bones about it, a rarity today.

Is she smart? You bet. She understands exactly what she is doing and there is no doubt she is a shrewd businesswoman.

But few would argue about her treatment of her fans and she can actually sit down and whip your butt on an XBox.

Doesn't an actor require at least 1 lead role or co-star in something to be considered top 5? Her resume is fairly weak. I understand her geek appeal, but she's a very small time actor.

Kevin Pereira was a local kid and was on the periphery of my circle of "geek" friends. When I knew him, he was still in Jr. High and was doing his own online radio show called Totally Pointless Audio.

Sadly, this was long before his association with Olivia Munn... :)

Didn't her publicist announce this several months ago? I just remember the story all over the place and it was a carbon copy every time, looked like her publicist or agent spammed it to try and get some attention.

She is a beautiful woman and I watch AOTS every day, except the Fri. best of. That said I don't believe she knows much about tech at all, the screw ups reading the prompter about tech specs and basic questions about a gadget is why I believe that.

I guess if going to comic con, while doing your show there BTW, and dressing up as Leia and wonder woman make you a geek then I am wrong. I seriously doubt you could talk with her in depth about anything tech. Someone like Alison Haislip on the other hand I believe knows what she is talking about when it comes to tech.
