Sound Drop-out with HDVR2

I currently have a customer that is using a HDVR2. We installed a complete surround sound system for him using an RCA Scenium receiver.
We used the optical cable from the satellite receiver to the RCA and after we fired it up, we get sound drop-outs after about 10 seconds.
There is also a DVD connected, also using optical and the sound does not drop out at all.
This is making be think that either the DVR is delaying the signal because of the hard drive, or it is a bad unit.

Has anyone heard of this problem using the DVR or the RCA unit?

very common problem with the HDVR2
Directv has a fix in the works due out sometime in september.

Thanks, I thought it was me. I checked the website and found nothing about this topic.
All those asking, were looking to just get hookup information.

yeah and there is a thread on teh site that is nearly 30 pages long. :(
Fix is in beta right now.
Supposedly by September we should get it...
Now we just need HMO.

Are DVR upgrades easy with TIVO?? I have never had to deal with an upgrade. Are they done similar to the receiver upgrades??

Tivo did their last upgrade over the telephone line. The technology is THERE for it to receive upgrades from the satellite though.

Mine came with the latest software so I have no idea how the next software upgrade will be done.
