Greg Grunberg mysteriously tweeted the following:
The "Fat Lady" is doing her vocal warm-ups!!
The shows ratings have been low for some time, but foreign syndication and high dvd sales have kept the show afloat.
Well, it hasn't been that good recently so makes sense.

I am curious about one thing in this day and age...
Given that many shows have done well in DVD/Blu sales, even canceled shows...
It seems to me that IF you have a show you are thinking about canceling, like Heroes... that you might consider releasing the DVD/Blu set of the last season sooner (like in the spring instead of waiting for the fall)... and then see how many people pony up for it in release week.
IF you get a high amount of sales the first week... that might persuade you to renew a borderline show for at least a 13-episode run... so that you can give it one last shot, and also have something else to sell next year!
Not surprised if Heroes is canceled... or even defending it at this point... but it just seems like my proposition would make sense for a network. They are going to release the season on DVD/Blu later this year anyway... so why not move the timetable up and use it to gauge potential interest for another season.

For me, Heroes was fun to watch during the first season. Had kind of a playful overtone to it that got lost in subsequent seasons. Haven't watched it in a while and won't miss it.

Greg backed off, so there's a chance still .. but I'd say it's slim.

Every season other than the first, seemed to wander way to much plot wise. Like a ship without a rudder, it just goes where-ever. At least the first season had a direction. "Save the cheerleader, save the world".

I gave up on this show a while back.. Too much of the Dad for me.. Also its like the same stories over and over again... The strike season when they just let some storylines dissapear was like jumping the shark to me...

They certain wrapped last season up in a way, that they could cancel it... or take some of the characters off into a spin-off or something.
The show lost something along the way, but I think it regained a bit this past year.
I just think all the goofy schedules, the NBC goofy stuff with the Jay Leno show... no really good night for TV anymore...
The DVR usage, and the lack of raitings adjusting to them, and thus the advertisersss.... writers and actors wanting more money, which means more money needed from advertisers, which mean more people need to watch it live, more people have DVRs.... expensive shows, are going to have little breathing room.

I dunno... even given all those considerations, there were reasons that Heroes was flagging, reasons that would readily justify cutting it loose afaic.

I gave up during season 2. Will be glad to stop hearing people complain about it though. ;)

Last season was the best one besides season one. At least it did have a complete story arc from beginning to end. I actually was kind of hoping it would get canceled though so it could go out on a high note. Rather than take the chance it'd go back to meandering and muddling like season's two and three. I wouldn't be opposed to a wrap-up tv movie or mini-series however.

Good enough... perhaps even a bit past time.

NBC Executives have said at the Upfronts that they are talking to the Heroes people about a 2 hour wrap up movie.

That would be nice; though I wouldn't be surprised about a disparity between the budget that such an endeavor would warrant, and how much the cast and crew would demand.
