I am trying to get signal from Expressvu. I have a dish pointed at 61.5 right now that I was trying to re-aim this dish to use with Expressvu at 91. I am getting no signal what so ever using my Dishnetwork receiver. When I first put up my 61.5 dish I got 91 ok. That was in the winter. I am planning on trying to repoint it one more time and if not I will place the new dish on the ground where I can aim it easyer. The only thing I can think of is that a trees leaves on a tree are in the way.

Your dishnetwork software is different from expressvu software and will not work, are
trying to be a sub or pirate. I am a expressvu 3 model 6000/1 5800 and 1 3100 units, twin
lnb at 91 and 82, if you are a sub I can help you, what reciever are you thinking of getting?

I was just using the dishnetwork reciver to get a sat lock. I am getting an expressvu system tomarrow. One 3100 reciver. I will be subscribing using TVM or Canam Sat. I belive in paying for what ever programing you have. I have herd of others using an old dishnetwork reciver to find the 91 sat signal. It will just say wrong sat bell expressvu when you lock on the 91 signal using the 61.5 slot on the setup screen. I have been a paying Directv sub for almost 2 years now. I love sat tv, but US providers don't have all the programing I want so thats why I want want Bell Expressvu.

BECAREFUL USING A DISH RECEIVER if you download EXPRESSVU software you may not be able to remove it and go back to DISH software. I recently saw a post where a subscriber downloaded DISH software onto his expressvu 6000 and could not use it on EXPRESSVU any longer. I had a customer looking for 61.5 accidently download EXPRESSVU onto his receiver and DISH said he had to exchange the receiver they couldn't load DISH after taking the EXPRESSVU software.

I had a receiver once pick up ExpressVu by mistake so I just happened to keep it there for a while and watch a few of their channels that they had free to air. I thought about doing this again just to see what is going on up there. I had no trouble getting Dish software back on that receiver. This had been a couple three years ago and do not know how these newer receivers would react though.

I got a 3100 reciver. I tryed to aim my 61.5 dish. No go. I tryed aiming it on the ground no go. I am a little frustrated now. I want this to work. Or I just wasted 150 bucks on a large paper weight. The old dish was on the roof. I have ordered a trypod to mount it on the ground. I may have to get a pro installer over here. I wish I could find a way to do this. I know it can be done. Any ideas would be apreaciated. 61.5 is easy to get here. 91 should be farely easy also.

I had the same bad luck for whatever reason when I was trying to get 61.5. Finally had Mark from Dish Depot come out, and in literally 5 seconds was good to go. We were laughing so much, since I had it almost in the exact position. The only thing he mentioned was that the receivers need at times up to 10 seconds to lock. A sat finder may help you get in the general area, then hook up the receiver and see if you have got the right sat.

Thats what I plan to do when I take the Expressvu plunge in a couple of months. I'm just waiting and hoping the 811 will go north of the border soon after it comes out here!

I just hooked up my ExpressVu last Friday. I had a 61.5 dish aimed and didnt need it anymore for Dish purposes. I reaimed it to 91 and got it to get a signal in a couple minutes. Here is a site that can help you.

http://sadoun.com/Sat/Installation/Satellite-Heading-Calculator.htm

I went on there and put in Boston,MA as the city (you have listed as being from MA) and it gave me an elevation of 37.1 and Azimuth of 208.3..Once you get the elevation at a litle more than 37, start swinging it SW and it should pick up something. With mine, once I got a signal and couldnt move it left or right without the signal dropping, I raised the elevation a little bit and got 83%, all with a 61.5 dish.

Hope this helps
Tony

Ok. I am going to try this on the ground. The dish on the roof has limited moveablity due to where it is placed. Do I need to mess with the skew or can I leave it at 90 on the dish? I am going to get a good compass so I can find southwest easly.

If all you want is the 91 satellite (main), dont mess with the skew...leave it at 90

You will need a new or used expressvu reciver. You can't use the dishnetwork reciver for expressvu. They use diffrent firmware and have diffrent registration info. You can use canam sat or tvm as a broker. I just got a good digital compass and am going to try to aim my dish tomarrow.

Can you use a brand new E* receiver and sub it through the brokers or do the receivers have to be from Expressvu?

The receivers MUST be through ExpressVu....Different registration info

Can you just use the Dish 500 for pointing at both Nimiq 1 and 2? Also, being in S. Florida, if I want to use a 24" dish instead of the 20", can you use the Y bracket from the 20" dish, or would it have to be different?

You could reuse the dish 500 dish and bracket. The lnbs are are the same on booth dishes. You would just need to get an expressvu dish and the appropriate elevation, skew and azimuth for your area.

I am now in a bind. I acadently had the expressvu 3100 reciver download dishenetworks software. It now will turn on for a sec and then turn off for a sec. I guess I may have to get anther reciver and sell this one on ebay. Oh well. One big expensive lesson learned. Time to call in a pro installer. Can I reset this reciver somehow and reload expressvu firmware or is it useless to me now?

D, I think that reciever is now a paperweight. I could be wrong.
