I am aware of the mover's connection service from DirecTV, but just thinking about a move we are making in about 25 days. The new house already has DirecTV dish and HD service with HDR. If I take my present receivers and HDR and connect to the existing dish, will I get signals and be able to use DirecTV until I can schedule the mover's connection when I am not so busy getting things moved from one house to the other. Only moving 30 miles and doing a lot of it myself. Plan to move the tv's and electronics myself.

The only thing you might have to do is re run the dish setup to tell the receiver what kind of dish/switch its hooked to.

If you have good signals, I'm not sure why you'd want to schedule a movers connection? I think there's a $20 handling charge if you call for a tech to come out. Just have the CSR change your billing/service addresses.

With a movers there is not a charge unless, you have been with them less than 12 months, second move in 12 months, or you order a new piece of equipment.

If you hook everything up and it works just call them to update your address and you're done. If the dish is different then the one you have now you will need to re run satellite setup.

Maybe not so simple if the existing wiring in the new house does not match your current receiver collection. Maybe you have a DVR where only a receiver was before (might need a second line pulled). Maybe you want one of your receivers in a different location in the house. Maybe you have more receivers than previous owner. Anyway, you get the idea. The mover's connection could be a very good deal because you'll get a tech to take care of these kide of details. So I wouldn't wait too long to schedule it.
