View Full Version : Dishplayer: proper way to resume play after pause?
OK, the phone rings and I pause my previously recorded program that I am watching via the DP remote control. Five minutes later, I want to start watching again.
Do I push 'Play' or do I push the 'Pause' button again? It seems like at different times each button acts in either of these ways: 1) playback continues exactly where it left off, nothing is missing or 2) A few seconds are skipped, causing me to press the 'jump back' button if I feel that I missed something.
I have used the PAUSE, PLAY and SKIP BACK buttons and gotten the same result. Sometimes it will start right up, sometimes it will black out and miss a few seconds of programming. I have not been able to figure out any rhyme or reason to it. Most of the time I hit the SKIP BACK button just in case.
Either button. I usually press the pause button again because it's bigger and easier to tactilely (is that even a word?) locate the pause button in the darkened room.
Both of my DPs do exactly the same short-skip thing, particularly after brief pauses. It's just a few frames that are skipped on my DPs. Longer pauses seem to resume with no skip. I think the pause-short skip characteristic is a "feature" introduced by a past sw upgrade. As a video editor it can drive me a little nuts at times, but in reality, it's a minor inconvenience considering the incredible stability the DP has achieved. When I finally retire my beloved Dishplayers and replace them with a 921(?), I shall give them an honored place on ebay for a job well done. ;)
