If it was not for this board, I would not have known about the DVR fees till
much later, maybe too late to take advantage of current offers. Because of the advice and information
I received , I purchased a 508 over the weekend. I already own a 501, so the 508 will be a nice addition. I was able to purchase the 508 for $199 with no additional programming committment.
Of course I had to play CSR roulette to get the deal. The first CSR I spoke with
told me I had already been offered an upgrade (to the 501) and would have to
pay $349 for a 508. I told her that was a "deal" she could keep.

Thats a good point. Wonder if E will send out a notice of the fees and opportunity to get a 508 before they arent available?

If I didnt hang out here and had say a 501 and wanted to upgrade and found about the monthly fee I would be instantly shoipping for a alternative.

Just got my second 508 last week. I purchased my first for $299 at CompUSA..got the second for $149 from Dish. Didn't have to do anything other than ask once. I've been a sub for 3 yrs w/AEP and locals. Just wish NBC would come on line!
