Should I remove the SWM-8 switch I installed myself (in order to use both DVR tuners in my bedroom without fishing a mile of coax throughout my house) before having DTV install the DECA system for MRV? I'd install the DECA's myself, but for the price it's cheaper to have DTV do it. I'm not sure if the installer would freak out if it's not setup the way DTV did it originally with a 6 x 8 switch.

My Setup:

2 HR22-100 HD-DVR's
3 H21-200 HD-receivers
1 D12-300 SD receiver

Also, I am considering having DTV installed the TV in my garage which is currently OTA only. That would bring my tuner count to 9. I'm thinking it would be wise to have it done at the same time since it would require more than a SWM-8.

Don't worry about the tech freaking out when he sees a SWM8 instead of a WB68, he won't care unless it screws up his work order (probably still won't care). They do sell this stuff on the open market to any and everyone.

More likely you'll hear about any real crappy connectors that you might have installed.:)

I think it's a very good idea to order the extra receiver with the DECA upgrade so that they supply you with a SWM16 (tuner count 9). This will make it easy if you decide to upgrade any of your 4 receivers to HDDVRs in the future.

Thanks for the quick response, 2dogz! I actually used some high quality compression fittings I bought off of ebay, but I'm sure there's something "crappy" about my installation anyways!

Ordering another D12 receiver: $70

SWM-16 switch: $300

I guess that makes it even more obvious!

Directv will install the SWM16 as part of DECA/receiver upgrade. Save your $300.
