Are DECA filter and Band stop filter required for multiroom?

I ask as I could not locate threads saying so and was on the beta for the MRV and it worked fine. THen of course stopped working, called DTV and was told I would have to pay $99 for set up kit which consisted of them coming out and installing a DECA filter and band stop filter.

Been off the forum a while and not understanding why I need them when it was working fine without them for months.

As of new the receivers are all connected via CAT5 to the net, etc., etc.

Thanks!

When you move to DECA there is a very high level RF signals between 500-600 MHz. This shouldn't end up in a tuner. Using either the DECA or a bandstop filter keeps this from happening.

OK, but, to get back MVR do I have to get the DECA and Band stop filters?

As I said, I did not have them before and all the MRV stuff worked fine... If I need to get them I will bite the bullet and pay the $99 to Directv but would of course rather not spend any more $ if they are not required...

Bolding doesn't get your point across any better.
Asking the correct question, would get a better answer.

Not sure how I could have asked any better... All I wanted to know was; to get MRV is it required to install a DECA filter and stop band filter. Sorry if the bold font irked you in some way, was not meant to... In any event, thanks to dwcolvin for his post, I will give them a shot and post back later..

What you wanted to know wasn't about filters, but if a DECA upgrade was required for MRV.

I know at least one person that has had this problem, I do not know the answer, but my guess would be a software update on the STB's.

MRV was/is controlled by DirecTV like a move channel or a PPV.
It now is a pay "service". It costs $3/month.

Yes $3 a month. It was turned off for those of us that opt'd in to the beta. and they thanked us for participating.

It is just a pain to get it turned back on, unless you ask for the DECA, that is all. e-mail, hour and a half phone calls, that is ridiculous.

It wasn't obvious that this was going to be a paid service when you opted in to the Beta?

Yes, enabling the Beta customers without DECA could have been handled better. Be happy it can be done at all. :D

To add:
It really wasn't DirecTV's plan to be able to use MRV without the connected home networking [DECA].
There was a lot of effort put in by many to have the "backdoor loophole" option to be able to use your home network.
Without this there would be no way, so I hope you understand why activating it this way is so difficult.

Well, got it solved though after an hour on the phone with DTV (extremely nice CSR) could not get to work so am having to go the $99 upgrade route..

We have a whole forum about this here:http://www.dbstalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=137

Would be a good idea to move this discussion over there.
