Here's a situation that has confounded me. My guess is that channel three of my swm-8 is bad. Is there any way to force a receiver to use a different unused swm channel?

My configuration:
I live in a condominium. Our building has a MFH2 SWM setup. My condo has 6 Directv tuners. One other condo, with one tuner, shares a SWM8 module with me. So, at most there are 7 tuners tied to this SWM8. I have 2 HD-DVRs, a H20-100 and a H21-200 in my home (hence 6 tuners).

Here are what appear to be the SWM channel assignments:
DVR1 ch5 ch6
DVR2 ch7 ch8
H20-100 ch2
H21-200 ch3
neighbor's rcvr ch4

I have never seen these SWM channel assignments change over multiple years. A year ago, I replaced a receiver that was on swm channel 3, thinking the receiver was faulty. I got the H21-200 as a replacement. It too is showing intermittent 95 then 0 then 95 then 0 ... signal levels for SWM channel 3. Also, some transponders of multiple satellites show 0 as their signal level.

I took the H21-200 (tied to channel 3) and put it in another room of my condo, where the H20-100 resided and worked perfectly. In this room, the H21-200 reconnected to swm ch3 and exhibited the same faults.

So, I've tried two different receivers in two different rooms. The only thing in common is the swm ch3. Is there any way to force the H21-200 to connect to a different swm channel? (That is, without building a notch filter that removes channel 3.)

Oh, I also tried to trick the H21 into a different swm channel by unplugging the satellite RG6 cable, changing the dish setup to "multi switch" instead of "swm", then reconnecting the cable and performing the satellite setup. I did this while all my 5 other tuners were unplugged from AC power. I was hoping the H21 would connect to a different channel, but it went back to channel 3.

any ideas?

swm has to be rebooted to clear mapping.

Ya unplug and plug the SWM back in, see what happens. I would also move that H20 to the "bad" SWM output and get that dinosaur replaced  Kidding.

I've never seen, personally, a "bad" single channel, but maybe others have. Good luck.
