What won't show up in uplink reports but is happening now is the move of the rest of the ConUS content from Echostar 7 to Echostar 14. ConUS channels on 119 are off air for the transition at this hour (as many were last Wednesday).

Also, note that DISH moved the OTA EPG entries (14000-16000 series) for Miami and West Palm markets. They did not move the OTA EPGs for the other markets moved (nor did they move OTA EPG for the markets they moved last Wednesday). This does not affect using the EPGs since the 14000-16000 channels do not actually exist - they don't have to be on an active working transponder.

Instead of "for the week of..." like I think John H's threads used to be... Might want to just say "the day of" or just post the date/time and be done. I say that because Dish has been known to have a couple of uplinks on different days in the same week of meaningful changes... so maybe "week of" is not needed as long as the date/time is in the thread title?

BTW: As noted by comparing with P Smith there was a change that didn't make my report. I overlooked a flag in the data. It is now changed in my program so it won't be missed again.

When there are multiple changes they often relate back to something earlier in the week. For those interested in these changes they can subscribe to the first thread of the week and keep getting updates. If you are replying to my post above, I think you misunderstood what I was saying...

I was originally thinking each new uplink of the day might get a new thread... in which case it shouldn't be "week of" in the title.

But after reading James' reply, and agreeing that it made sense to have "week of" for the first posted uplink of the week... then contain all the other uplinks that week within that same thread, then it made sense to be "week of".

I didn't mean to say (although I see how it might read that way) that the actual first post in the thread would be edited.

Most weeks we'll likely end up with only one big day ... with E 14 taking over E 7 spots and all that new spotbeam bandwidth coming online it should be a busy few weeks. A thread a week worked for the first five (plus) years.

Of course when JohnH started it (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=25227) we had "TOTAL CHANNELS IN THE SYSTEM = 1872". Now we're at 7160.

(There are way to many mirrors and duplicate channels ... but I suppose it makes it easier on DISH to manage who gets what between normal subscribers and the special AK/HI/PR/Commercial subscription services.)

The data is there - and it would smooth out the silliness (such as the channel 213 arrival, multiple swaps with 214, and change to TWC2).

Nice to see a new entrant in the activity.It has been too long in returning. But now the scripts/programs are up and running we should be able to keep the efforts going. I've been looking at the data on and off since 2004 but getting a consistent feed (for me) only was achieved last week.

KHOU, is a Houston TV Station (CBS affiliate). The report shows Dallas (I assume this is the spot beam name, else Dallas is over 200 miles from Houston and almost 250 miles from Victoria) to allow KHOU to be eventually viewed in Victoria (via DISH), Texas which is about 80 miles WSW of Houston.

I used to live in Houston and KHOU has a 1500 foot transmission tower in Missouri City (just SW of Houston). The terrain is flat because of the proximity of the Gulf Coast. Victoria is close enough to Corpus Christie to be in their DMA, as well as Houston.

If DISH is doing this for Victoria, than why not Beaumont which is just as close to Houston as Victoria? I know this is for frequently viewed stations, but there seems to be a lack of consistency developing in how DISH (or the FCC) is handling/allowing distribution. For example, Colorado Springs is closer to Denver, than Beaumont or Victoria is to Houston, but there seems tor be no plans to carry Denver stations in Colorado Springs (or vice versa). Or, Cheyenne stations in Northern Colorado. Yet, Denver Stations are being carried in Laramie, Wyoming, but not in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Curious, and confusing, in how "frequently viewed channels" is being implemented. I guess people who live between Washington DC and Baltimore (get both cities), Philadelphia and New York City (get both cities), Scranton (get New York City channels) and those on Long Island (not getting Connecticut channels), Providence and Boston (get both cities) may have similar observations.

Beyond that I don't know what package a channel is in based on a code of "0x2B14" or "0x4FBC". The change between such codes is what is reflected by the package flag change when not otherwise specified.

That's tough request.
It could be done, but only with internal knowledge how individual flags of each channel related to that groups [packages] like AT150, AT200, Latino, etc.

The "UP" channels are simple placeholders put into the system so that there is at least one channel on each transponder, even if the transponder is not in use (or even powered up). I believe there is an issue with DISH's QAM converters (for bulk residential installs) that requires at least one channel to be on each transponder.

The removal of these "channels" is simply because they are no longer needed. They were placeholders for the two spots that channels in the Northeast moved to earlier this morning. Now real channels are there the placeholder is not needed.

BTW: "Philadelphia" is the general area where the spot covers and is not specific to the content that is on that spot. Note that the "South Bend" and "Fort Wayne" locals moved from (Chicago) to (Lansing) this morning:

Do the TP changes for the RSN's at 61.5 mean they might be taking it seriously in regards to providing as many games in HD as possible instead of the pull the RSN's out of a hat every day and others are left out?Unfortunately not. DISH has room for three HD Sports feeds on TP 20 and eight on TP 30. The game only RSNs are mapped to one of those two transponders. During most of the day the channels point to that annoying "check back" slate. At game time DISH changes where the RSN in your guide is pointing from the slate to the appropriate "HDSKD" feed. And at the end of the game (or the end of the time block allocated) DISH switches the RSN back to the slate. The use of 10 channels limits DISH to (at most) 10 HD games at a time.

We won't see improvement in sports carriage until we see more HDSKD channels added or 24/7 RSNs.

The daily moves are normally not reported. They were included above because of the late nature of the overnight report. Those moves happen every morning around 6:10am ET. If you check the EPG you will see that all the HD RSNs go "Off Air" at 5am ET until 11:55am or Noon.
