Here is what seems to be a bug. Anybody see this?
1) last night my wife set a timer for "Love or Money2" for an hour and 10 minutes.
2) While watching the recording the program stopped before the progress bar finished. The show was not done.
3) I looked at the info and it stated "Recording 9pm to 10:10pm" however the duration stated 1hr.
4) Unless 1hr equals 70 minutes looks to me like we have a bug on the 508.
Anybody hear of this? how do you report bugs to Dish without having to call and wade through their system.

That happened to me a couple tmes. Were you home when it occured? If you werent the power might have been off.
If not do a reboot, hopefully it will not occur again.

No I was not home.. But we have not had any power outages recently. It only seems to have occurred on this one program and I think what might have caused this bug to trigger was the fact that my wife changed the time. It is a weekly occurance type thing and she increased it a 10 minutes to get the run over. I really wish stations would adhere to the time slots. I have the new 197 so I will have to see if it occurs again. I will reboot it when I get home tonight and see if the problem pops up again. If this happens during Survivor, I throwing my 508 out the window. ;)

Oh for shows like survivor we record the SAME show on all boxes just in case. After bugs ave screwed us repeatedly we finally got wise.
For awhile I had a 4900 paired with a VCR for just this purpose.

That is just plane scary.. ;) Cross my fingers but beside for the little annoyances I have not had any problems with my 508. (KNOCKING ON WOOD). Well no major crashes, but the since purpose of things box is to record shows at a certain time and for a certain duration the team's goal shoudl be to do this extremely well. The fact that it did not tape for an hour and 10 minutes tells me it failed on this account.
Did you have any bad weather while the show was recording?
This would cause a short recording but you should still get a message while viewing the recording that the signal had been lost and you are missing part of the show.

Actually I have had some problems where I have lost signal and it does give a "Signal Loss" dialog, but keeps going on its marry way. I am in SoCal so Bad weather is not really a normal thing and being that it is summer I would have to say the weather was pretty good. The fact that it recorded exactly one hour and did not include the extra 10 minutes I would say that the PVR got confused. To be clear.. The Duration on the timer was exactly 1 hr. The recording time showed for 9pm to 10:10pm. Since it stopped short my guess is it did only have 1 hr of recording. However the progress bar that show up when fast forwarding never went up to end. I would fast forward and it would stop well before the end of the progress bar.
This was clearly a case of the 508 getting confused and I don't think it was an external events. Being a software Engineer I tend to analysis things from a software perspective and this smells software related. I think the triggering event was changing a timer that has already been set. I will have test my theory out when I get the chance.
Hope this makes things a bit clearer
