Do they use the same PI?

Yes, and no.

The SWM8 (at least originally) used a PI-28 or PI-29, a 29 volt Power Inserter. My SWiM-16 came with a PS29R0-03 Power Supply, which needs a splitter to become a Power Inserter (see http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=2468220#post2468220 ). I'm sure a PI-29 would work.

Note that the SWiM-16 has a separate 29V input in addition to the familiar SWM1/PWR, so it can easily be powered from a receiver location or from the SWiM-16 location.

Interesting, mine came with a PI-28 so it probably won't work?

Interesting, mine came with a PI-28 so it probably won't work?My SWiM-16 is working with one. Not sure if it's a PI-28 or -29, but I remember it's prominently labeled for "SWiM 8 use only". Been running it for about 10 days now with no issues. Next time I go into the attic, I'll check exactly which model it is.

I am also using a PI-28, which actually has a 29 volt output, with my SWiM-16.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably just try the -28 and see how it goes.
