have a question about a very old receiver...help

i got for free a first gen receiver and a phase 3 dish is on its way with 3 lnbs...will this first gen receiver (rca DRD203RW) work with the dish or do all receivers have to be multisatellite compatible? this is just for a garage so it being real old doesn't matter

It should work just fine. BUT, if your local channels come in on one of the secondary slots (110 or 119) then you will not be able to get locals on that box.

Kc2gub you might want to authorize the 203 and then see what type of upgrade offer you can get from D*. That receiver only has a 8 bit processor so it will be very slow processing information. If you want the plus capabilities (119 & 110) you could get a standalone switch but the upgrade might be a better deal. I have one of those old receivers in my garage when I am working out their it does provide good pictures but compared to my other receivers it takes forever to display guide or channels.
