Hello Members,
I am a new member and posting for the first time. I need help in dealing with Dish Network whose customer service representatives are very adamant and not listening to me. I appreciate your advice.
Here is my story.
I ordered Dish Network service with 24-month commitment through a retailer and the installation was scheduled for a weekend within the window of 5 hours.
I waited patiently the whole time expecting the installer to show up at my place. He keeps calling and telling that he will come within the hour. I kept waiting and finally had to give up since I had other engagements and the installer never showed up at all. So, I changed my mind and decided to cancel the order within the 3-day recession period which is legal in California. But Dish Network claims that the installation is done as per their computer records and I will be charged the cancellation fee. I asked them how they can charge when the installation was never done in the first place. I gave the installation company contact information to Dish Network representatives to verify the same but nobody is listening to me and are giving the run-around for so many hours. Please advise me what can be done in this situation. I appreciate your replies.
Thanks,
Chris

Did you sign anything? or anyone related to you?.The commitment and installation has to have a signature to become valid. If they continue to harass you for can write a letter to The California Attorney General's office or see if your local news has a Consumer's Corner where if they choose to represent you they will try to get you problem resolved plus they broadcast the problem over the air(a local installer would not like that).;)
But first let's try something else email your problem to
ceo@dishnetwork.com and see if they can help you.Good Luck!:)

Yeah... unless you or someone who lives with you signed a work order, there is no way they have anything committing you to service.

ChrisDefinitely send a polite email to ceo@dishnetwork.com including a daytime phone number where you can be reached and full details about what's happened to you. Someone from the Administrative Office should contact you within a week. They are usually very good about this.
The most probable reason why Dish is claiming you are now currently a customer, subject to ETF's is that the retailer you contacted pre-activated equipment on your account prior to installation. (a huge no-no in Dish's Retailer Buisness Rules). To find out if this is the case, give Dish a call and ask exactly when (date and time) your account was activated. Dish has no idea at this point if there is signed paperwork or not. I beleive retailers now have up to 30 days after account activation to fax their contracts to Dish. I'm thinking the retailer in question may be scrambling a bit right now.
