HD's are cropped now

A old locked thread mentioned that I could change the aspect ration with the * button on the remote.

Is that the same as going to the menu and changing it?

If it is the same then I dont see how to get the outsides of my HD pictures back. I tried every option in the menu and on the tv itself.

Your TV might have aspect ratio adjustments...

The receiver has aspect ration adjustments to some degree in the menu...

But the "*" is something separate from all of those.

You can usually tell if this is the culprit by pressing Cancel or Select on the remote, and seeing what appears on the view banner.

"Normal", "Zoom", "Stretch", "Grey", and "Black" are the options that show in the view banner according to how the format is currently set with the "*" key.

Ok, it was the * button. It was set to partial zoom.
