View Full Version : June billing... Did anyone else's bill go down?

Mine did.
The Dish Premium 4-pack (I get all the premiums) went from $40 to $42
BUT
My "Dish HD with locals" package dropped $5...
So the result is, my bill actually went down about $3!

I just got my second reduction this year, first i got a $4 reduction on equipment and now $5 down on programming. I now pay $29.99 for HDAbsolute with Locals, down from $34.99

I knew I couldn't be the only one!
It unfortunately also reinforces the position I've always taken on the forums... People go nuts every year for the price increase... but when the price drops, you can hear a pin drop because no one starts threads to talk about the price going down.

I'm really confused, Stewart. Here's the items on my last two bills, the June 1 one not showing the "Free HD for Life" because that appears on bills dated June 3 and after:

What I expect to see on my next bill is a $ 5 4 increase as the America's Top 200 with Locals as the price on the web site is $54.99 and 3 Premium Package is $33.
What did your two bills look like itemized?

Mine was:
Dish HD Absolute w/ locals -> $34.99
4-Premiums -> $40.00
The latest bill changed to:
Dish HD Absolute w/ locals -> $29.99
4-Premiums -> $42.00
It would be really weird if this price drop was limited to the HD Absolute package... when you figure that Dish has no incentive to drop prices on a package you can't subscribe to anymore.
My bill didn't generate until a couple of days ago, after the June 3rd pricing/package changes... so maybe that is why you haven't seen the same change in your main package. It might only be in bills generated after that.
It would just be weird if I'm in a small group that sees their bill go down... I was working under the assumption that Dish was basically including locals now at no charge with a qualifying package.

I think that the HD only subs went down while the others went up.

Mine stayed exactly the same.
Dropping the HD Platinum package saved me $10 on my bill with getting the HD free. I've noticed they raised other things though...HBO and Showtime went up $2 to $24 and the two superstations I have went from $1.50 each to $2.00, the superstation package itself went up from $5.99 to $7.

I think that the HD only subs went down while the others went up.I don't know about that. Going back in my files to February information and then comparing with what's showing up on my account's programming screen today I get the following:
Dish America - February $24.99 - June $29.99
DISH America Silver - February $34.99 - June $44.99
DISH America Gold - February $44.99 - June $54.99
What I can't determine is if those February prices included the $5 locals. The June prices do.
It could be that those with the old legacy Dish HD Absolute may be receiving a price drop based on the fact that it hasn't received and may not receive in the future some of the new HD channels? Whatever, based on Stewart's report it's being priced the same as Dish America.

Mine went up $5.
Last month was
Classic Gold 250 with -5.00
But it's gone in June. Anyone know why?
Did you have locals before.

Did you have locals before.
If this is direct to me, Yes. Have had them since the moment we could get them here in Denver. It took two dishes, that is why I had, have still of sorts, a two dish setup and that they are someday going to restore and take this disaster 1k2 thing away.

I had to contemplate what the likely $4.00 increase next month really represents.
Here are screenshots of three bills (year added):
http://www.phrelin.com/Dish/3bills.jpg
They all are for a ViP722DVR and a ViP612DVR, AT200, HD, Platinum, and HBO/Showtime/Starz. Based on what is showing in my account programming page, I expect my next bill to be like this:
http://www.phrelin.com/Dish/1007billest.jpg
What looks like a $4 increase or a 3.6% increase effective this June is really just a $1 increase over 2008-09 billings or 0.9%.
Because of information posted in threads here, during this time I have had Cinemax for a Penny. In early 2009, I received $60 in promotion credits for premiums. In early 2010, I received $66 in promotion credits for premiums. Because of the credits this year, I did upgrade to AT250 for a few months to record some stuff, then downgraded.
So, during an 18-month period, Dish has given me premium credits averaging $7.00 a month plus a fourth premium Cinemax which would have cost $9.00 a month.
Also during this period, the number of HD channels we watch has increased substantially.
I likely will see a $4.00 increase next month, but I really shouldn't complain.:sure:

My bill jumped up two bucks. I never look at my statements but it's normally $98
America's Top 250
HD 250 (now free as of this morning)
HD Solo fee (which is a complete b.s. charge IMO
DVR fee (another complete b.s charge)
Service Plan 15/0
Taxes
Something went up...just have no idea what.

Mine went up $2 as well.
The end result was I went from $10/mo for HD & free HD Platinum, to free HD & $10/mo for Platinum- which was a wash. But the 250 went from $62.99 to 64.99.
My Superstations charge went up $1.01. HD Free but now $10 for Platinum so that's a wash. I have America's Everything Pack.

Just checked my bill, and it went down to 29.99 for Absolute. It's got pretty much everything I need except Nick for the kids now that Disney is gone, but I'm not bumping up to a different package for $20 more just for Nick. That's still pretty much the best value out there.

HD Free dropped mine the $10. Maybe one of these days Platinum won't be so shiny and will be part of free.
