On the coming install, how many leads will be coming from the dish into the house? Install will be for one HD DVR in the living room and one SD receiver, not DVR, in bedroom.

Thanks

most likely 3 2 for the HD DVR and one for the SD

Wouldn't it be two wires with a SWiM connector and a DVR that accepts SWiM?

no, to use a swm they need 2 HD DVR units or something like that.

Since we’re on the subject. I soon will add two SD receivers for the kiddies. So in all we’ll have two HDDVR and two SD receivers. Will this multi switch work for my soon to be setup?

Is there something better I should use? If so, why? Thanks! :D

If you don't have a SWiMLNB (one wire from the dish vs. four) then yep that will work.

Yup, my dish is old school. Four wires total. Currently two wires going to each HDDVR.

Thanks for the info.

With the current MRV/WHDS they are installing SWM on any account that orders any HD service at all on a new install.

Just did one yesterday, KAKU swm3, 1 HD IRD. Took a grand total of 45 mins to do the whole install.

gotta love it.

If I remember correctly, all new installs with an HD IRD are SWiM installations, therefore even the standard DVR's must be SWiM compatable. I don't think that OMG or WOI will change a SWiM installation back to legacy just for a non-SWiM IRD. If an installer were to use a legacy Slim5 LNB and an R15 (non SWiM compatable) but close it as though he had used a SWiM, the work order will not close because the system won't allow you to use a non-SWiM IRD on a "SWiM=True" work order.

Correct, they will not change it. Makes for some fun days. Especially since the idiots in the supply chain can't figure out that we need D12s, R16s and SWiM gear to actually do the installs.

Not that we could change them if we wanted, as we normally don't have the regular LNBs or switches either. :nono2:

In addition to those problems, we now only order 2" poles. And we haven't ordered pole adapters in 2 months. The person that orders the equiptment is new. Was never a technician, and thought that since the part was called a Primestar pole adapter, that we couldn't possibly need those anymore. So we have techs wrap n' tapping peices of 18x20 masts into dimpled 2" poles. Causing service calls.
We also don't get reimbursed for cement anymore. We have (had) a pallet of quikrete at the warehouse. And that's where we're supposed to supply our concrete. But we haven't had a delivery of that in a month either.
Eugh.. :nono2:
