I wondered about that too. Being grandfathered into HD Free for Life, I decided to drop Platinum HD, since it used to be free with the HD fee. However, the wife wants to see the new season of True Blood, so I added HBO and dropped Platinum HD online in the same transaction. No $5 fee was charged because the total bill actually went up a net of $6 per month.
