DP picture shifted 1/3 screen right!?!

Got home tonight and viewed some DP programs and the picture was... like the subject says. It's like vertical in old TVs, only horizontal--I can see the right third of the picture on the left-hand side of the screen with a black line between that part and the left 2/3 of the screen on the right. I'd try the usual tricks. but I'm recording now. Just wondered if anyone has ever see this before.

The menus are fine--it's not the display. It also does this on older recordings that were fine before so it's not "recorded." Just weird. I'll try the smart card pull, etc and see if that fixes it.

Had it 2-3 times in the first year or two (2000-2001). Haven't seen the split-screen 'feature' in a couple of years. My two DPs are amazingly stable now, especially since I stuck a fan on 'em.

Ah... I recall reading about this before, but never experienced it myself until now (lucky me...). Any pointers on fixing it besides a smart card pull? A 32768, 7225000... I'm surprised I still remember those numbers as my DP had been "stable" for some time as well.

Power down, make yourself a sandwich, when the light stops flashing key in <option>1776. Make sure the lights flicker, you will then have a normal picture.

My theory on how they came up with the code:
wrap-around > revolve > revolution > 1776

Haven't seen this in a long time, but [option]+[1776] has fixed it for me in the past.
