D11 question

I was given a D11 by a family friend. I hooked it up to see if I need to call and activate it, but it won't get past the looking for satellite screen. Is there something else I need to do? Even if the card needs to be activated wouldn't it at least pull a signal? I unhooked the coax from my H23, so I know the signal in that room is fine.

Do you have a Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) dish? The D11 is not compatible with that.

If you have a SWM8, you can connect the D11 to one of its "Legacy" outputs.

Ah yes I do have a SWM dish. Bummer...

Only the D12 SD Receiver is SWM-compatible.
