Earlier this month, DVD-drive maker CenDyne was ordered by the Superior Court of California to shut down. The company has been placed into receivership, according to its voice mail message. CenDyne is no longer shipping products and is not servicing warranties or honoring rebates.

Luckily the Hardware is mostly OEMs of Pioneer or NEC in that drivers, firmware were and always will be available thru the orignal vendor. But lack of Warranty fulfillment can be a pain. I have a Cendyne/Pioneer DVR-104 that is out of Warranty, and a DVR-105 that has at least 4 months left (but I did only pay $150 thru staples).

I guess the pricing was tooo good to be true long term, but the product was still top notch....and Good DVRs are getting lower and lower in price so that all Higher end PCs will come with one eventually.
