Hi! I have a question about Dish Network's dual tuner hd dvr's, I currently have one vip 722 connected to an LCD Hd set and a sd set. I want to replace my sd set with another hd set and still have just one receiver.
Are there any plans for a future receiver that can do this? that is, a dual tuner hd-dvr receiver w/hd on set 1 & 2?

If needed I will break down & get another box, I'm just hopping to avoid that, and the additional monthly cost with more receivers...

Thanks and have a great day!

Rick

Assuming you want an independently controlled feed to the second television, Dish currently offers no single box that does this.

The 922 offers the Sling HD feed for TV2 which can be received on a computer. But the HDTV Multi-Room Extender which would permit you to receive the signal on a TV is still in the "coming soon" status.

So other than waiting for that, at a minimum you will need a 612. Combined with your 722, it would give you the ability to record four (or six if you have OTA) programs at the same time and would permit you to move recordings to an external hard drive and watch them on either box.

If you don't need an independent feed for the second TV, the 722 TV1 outputs are all hot so you can feed one HD TV with the HDMI output and another with the component video/optical (or RCA) audio outputs.

Thanks for the reply.

I would like 2 independent HDTVs on one receiver, I'm just hoping to avoid any additional monthly cost for more recievers.

To me, it seems logical that such a receiver would be in the works, as we move more and more into HDTV service. It's just a matter of when.

Of course, I could be totally wrong, too.

Thanks again!

Another way of doing it, is to get a ViP211k w/OTA module. For a $40 fee, and a External HD, the 211k can be turned into a DVR, and is $10 month cheaper in Reciever Fees.
