Does anyone know? Aside from all the back and forth on the fees, I'd like to know if anyone has any info on the release date.

Thanks

The best information currently available is that we will have better information after next months Charlie chat and retailer chat. We have been told that it won't be available on Oct 1st with the superdish, but we will see it before Christmas. This puts the 921 ahead of the HD DirecTivo.

Welcome to the board. Hope you enjoy the conversations.

Thanks. I was hoping it might be sooner, but I guess we'll just have to wait. I have an RCA Scenium 34" wide/flat screen HDTV and am eager to have HDTV, but cannot justify buying one of the other recievers with the 921 coming out in the (hopefully) near future.

We have enjoyed our Dish network service enormously. We rae big DBS fans. Have never had a problem and have experienced great service. We also enjoy the personal weather station feaure of the dish. We get about a 3 minute warning before our house is hit by any major storm. Otherwise, it's been high quality uninterrupted service for well over 3 years now.

You could do what i'm thinking about by purchasing the 811 for $299 (i still think it's going to be higher, although everyone here says it's $299) and use that until the 921 comes out. Then move the 811 to the bedroom or where ever you next intend to put a HDTV. My wife has seriously been on my case to get a TV in the bedroom, so I know that's where my next TV is going to be and i will never purchase another standard Def TV. so I know i'll eventually have need of a Dish HD receiver.

Well, I am not familiar with the 811. I will check it out on the dish site, but the price sure sounds good for HDTV reception. How about the dish? I have a dish 500 now. What will I need for HD?

811 is the replacement to the 6000. It's a newer HD receiver that can do HD over the air and via Dish satellites. You will need the new superdish to get the newer Dish HD channels. Everyone is up in arms over the fact that they purchased Dish equipment: Dishes and 6000 receiver expecting it to be the only equipment they would ever need, and now they may need to get the new 811 and Superdish to get the new HD channels. Since Dish hasn't announced a discount upgrade plan for existing subs(subscribers) everyone who was an early adopter with the HD products is screaming right now. Do a search in this forum and read all of the Superdish related posts. You'll see what i mean.

921 will not be out in any numbers till next year. Besides with the fee and 1K price who wants it?

I would not mind paying a few dollars for the 921. As for the fee, it looks like it is maybe $5. I get the Top 150 right now, and the only info I saw seemed to imply no fee for that level of service. Not sure, but that is how it appeared. Can you enlighten me on that count?

I want it, that's one person.
I've had the Dish Player and even though it was flakey, i loved it. I have an HDTV monitor, I want HD satellite TV, I want a PVR. The first product that combines the two will be the 921.
