Is the dish 500 information channel supposed to show anything besides the congrats you have a dish 500 system screen? That's all I've seen on this channel so far so I was just curious if i was missing something. Also have they updated the remote control channel yet or is it still the same as july? I know they update the directv info channel (201 i think) every month or so cause a friend has directv. Will dish have a information channel like this?

This channel's sole purpose is to inform you that you do have a Dish 500 satellite dish connected correctly so that you can purchase channels that require the Dish 500. They should make this channel have multiple purposes though to give you additional information on the screen while leaving the information it currently has on it now indicating that you do have a Dish 500 system.

I wonder if they are going to put up a similar channel as this for the SuperDish using 105 slot and the SuperDish using 121 slot.

I think they should put up a channel for every satellie slot and if you are successfully receiving a signal from that slot then you would receive that channel. For example: 9105 tells you that you are recieving the 105 slot, 9110 tells you that you are receiving the 110 slot, 9119 tells you that you are receiving the 119 slot, 9121 for the 121 slot, 9615 for the 61.5 slot, 9148 for the 148, etc. with a message of the slot that you have acquired.

Each system should include a notice of the channels to look for when you successfully have these channels and also tell you on channel 101 and with your monthly statement along with other updates.

Far too sensible to ever be implemented, of course :-).

My suggestion reminds me of when I was searching for satellites with my C-Band dish and seeing a banner stating the satellite I was on with an advertisement. I think the advertisement was a business that sold programming. Perhaps if Dish wanted to start advertising they could put ads on those channels to help support the costs of them, in which would not be much anyways, they would probably make money off of it.

Alternatively, you can always go to the switch test screen to see all sat locations you receiving.

I recorded college football classic games this weekend on espn classic and i was floored when I saw commercials for get this "Directv" on dish network. I was totally surprised that dish network didn't try to edit out the directv commercials with their own commercials but indeed there they were telling me how much better directv was than cable.

I get commericals for E* and D* on Cable. If its a natinoally sold commerical the provider has no way of editing these out.. They would violoate their terms to carry the network's programming.

...Also have they updated the remote control channel yet or is it still the same as july? Yeah, they changed the video on Ch 101 a couple of weeks ago. They call it "Dish Network 101" now and I would say that it is a bit more informative for new customers.

But they should really rotate it with the instuctional videos for the DVRs since new customers with these products tend to need a little more help with using them.

I agree in that I think they should have another channel for information pertaining to DVR receivers.
