At least it looks that way now.

It is? Just what is written? Introductory preview of WHAT?
Well, since some are apparently unaware that Anchorage local channels are to be launched on the 28th of August 2003, I will say Anchorage Local channels. There is an indication that there will be an "INTRODUCTORY PREVIEW" of same. If you get 110 and are in the Anchorage market, you may see an announcement on channel 102 as well as seeing the local channels from the 119 satellite spotbeam. At this point it is just putting 2 and 2 together. Of course, the end result may be 3 or possibly 5 if you are counting local channels. :)
I re-iterate, the launch date is supposed to be Thursday August 28th, 2003.

The other night I was watching my Dish 6000 when it rebooted, when it came back I was getting a bunch of channels I should not have been getting, including a bunch of WOW channels letting me know locals were now available in my area and to tune to them for a free preview. (I saw like 7 of these WOW channels including on Channel 102)
There were also a bunch of channels in the 9000's marked chnl 1 - chnl 10 but they had nothing on them.
A few minutes after this came on my 6000 rebooted again and they were all gone. :(
Dang I was hoping I was getting a sneek preview of something :)

Just checked the Dish Network 'Local Availabilty' on their web site. Showing 5 channels available, still no ABC or NBC  , But $599 A month? :(

5.99 i think is incorrect then...

Ak Shark,
Dish may be adding KING NBC Seattle for those that qualify for distant NBC in the Anchorage market. Right now channel 7049 on the Alaska spot houses KING. It is not yet available to subscribers. But looks like Dish is not taking the Anchorage NBC's stuff laying down.
See ya
Tony
Sometimes they charge $5.99 and if some major nets are missing they issue a $1.00 credit.

4.99 or 5.99, but i sure hope it is not 599 (as AkShark put it above) :D
KIMO added to the mix. :)

yup - i think you are right :) - ch 7030
Looks like they added it in a somewhat strange manner (for now anyhow), but it does look like it has been added

Actually - never mind - nothing strange about it... (I take it back)
It has been added in a normal manner :)
Yeah, Addressbroker lists it as available along with the other 5. No NBC yet.

I don't know the Anchorage NBC's coverage area up there but its freaking Alaska. I bet there will be many who qualify.
Also, there has got to be a lot outside the Anchorage Market which qualify for Distant Nets, which might be able to get the Anchorage Nets as Distants, if E* chooses to offer them.

If I were still living in Anchorage I'd take KING over KTUU any day.
Also, KTUU's coverage is only the Anchorage DMA. There are other NBC stations for Fairbanks and Juneau.

I signed up for the locals this morning (6 hours ago). Had them all except channel 2 (NBC -KTUU) and 13 (ABC - KIMO) within 5 minutes. Side by side comparision with cable shows a better picture for all except 11 (CBS), which had a bad ghost this morning. Sure hope that they find and fix the problem soon. The picture was just terrible.
Glad to hear KIMO has agreed.

Jim Parker - E-mail Dish maybe about that problem - this way they can fix it faster (more likely)

It's true, it's true!!!! :eek2:
We are getting a 'FREE' Preview. I guess I can stop holding my breath now!
Although for me with out the NBC feed a will not subscribe. ( I do not qualify for distant)
My 301 seems to allow for local channel mapping, while my 6000 (with out OTA module) does not.
Is this right?
what channels? I can't seem to find them. I have the 6000 receiver.
Local channel mapping seems to take as much as 24 hours to set itself up on some receivers.
The channels will show up in the 7030s if they have turned you on. I have no idea how long it will take the system to turn all Anchorage market subs on or if they will actually turn them all on.
It would seem the system would have to do them one at a time, though.

The signal for channel 13 is all messed up today. I just talked to a CSR at Dish. They are aware that the signal on both 11 and 13 have problems and are trying to fix it. No idea when it will be fixed of course.

13 is fixed now, but 11 still has the bad ghosts.
