Ok, Im going to try to give all the info necessary in a short but sweet fashion. Anyone in my area doing OTA HDTV that knows if the local CBS has problems? Here is what happens .... perhaps you can suggest what to try.

I have the Model 6000 with the 8VSB. I have a roof mounted Radio Shack VU90XR antenna. I can watch SDTV just fine. When I try to watch HDTV (which is most often CSI and Without A Trace)... it digitizes and freezes. :( My signal strength always shows at least 90 per cent. Anyone have any suggestions of what to try first? Also, if you watch the OTA channels for a while and try to go back to the satellite (even asking for the guide) it takes forever... over 5 minutes the last time. During this time you cant cancel, turn off, anything. :nono2:

There is a bug. If you have the Analog station added to your line up, then it chokes on the digital station. So say you CBS is on channel 9. You have 9-00 for your analog and 9-01 for your digital, then they digital could choke if are seeing this bug.

Go into the menu and remove your both the analog and digital CBS stations. Then re-add only the digital station. Try and watch it. If it comes in fine, then should be able to re-add you analog station 2nd.

I had this same problem with a Fox digital station in Baltimore. I got the fix some one on these boards who had the same problem somewhere else.

I'm not in your area, but it sounds to me like your CBS station is having the problems on their end. I've seen similar things happen here in Denver with our stations - real strong signal strength, but no signal. And the no signal part of it can make the 6000 go a little stange with delays being able to change off the channel (because it's trying to lock onto the channel when it's not really there). My advice is to call your CBS stations and ask to speak to someone in the engineering department. Do that enough, and you'll get to know all of the tech-heads that work at your stations. :)

I agree with Cyclone. It's probably the bug. I had it on mine. You need to delete the analog CBS.

Thanx!! I will try it and see what happens. I hope it works because CBS happens to have a lot of things we watch. ABC is supposed to start here in OCT and that will be another station that we watch a lot. NBC doesnt seem to have the problem or we havent tried to watch it enough.

Thanx for the suggestions. I will let you know if it works.

Also, if you watch the OTA channels for a while and try to go back to the satellite (even asking for the guide) it takes forever... over 5 minutes the last time. During this time you cant cancel, turn off, anything. Yes, if you "sit" on an OTA channel too long the rcvr seems to lose the sat info. (This is actually because it hasn't updated the guide while you were watching the local.)

There is an easy work-around for this, tho. Instead of going to the EPG (which needs the current info & makes you wait for it to download) just type a known Ch# on the keypad; i.e. 120 for The History Channel.

Once you get on the Sat channels you can use the EPG or Browse, too, but you may see "Info Not Available" for the current program on some channels for a while.

Im not sure which problem you are asking about. Deleting the analog did not help. I have been trying to figure out if it is a certain time that it breaks up, a certain night or anything that could help me pinpoint the trouble. This past weekend cbs was showing the tennis in hdtv and it was beautiful.... not one problem at all. I sat staring at the beautiful picture.... and I dont even like tennis!! CSI I have never been able to watch the whole show on my ota digital station I have had to switch to my local channel on satellite which is not in HDTV. Without a Trace is the same thing. Ive been thinking about rotating the antenna slightly or just buying a rotor for it but I dont know if that will help. It just seems strange that I can watch some things and not others.
I have eliminated the searching for satellite delay by using the browse function. If I dont get the name of the show when browsing I know I cant change channels yet.
