FYI, I can't speak to all of these... but WUNP is most certainly not the Raleigh/Durham DMA.

We have WUNC-TV broadcasting from Chapel Hill, NC here. It is channel 4 (actual broadcast channel is 25).

So at least this one (WUNP) is being ID-ed not quite correctly in your script as for the Raleigh/Durham Market.

The market is where DISH is making the station available, not the source market.
DISH customers with "Raleigh/Durham, NC" should see 8763 mapped down to 36-00.

There is a market flag in the data we're reading ... that is the basis for the market placement shown in our reports. DISH may have turned it on for only a portion of the market, but it is available and flagged as being a "Raleigh/Durham, NC" channel by DISH.

I suppose the question is if Stewart or anyone else in that market can confirm receiving the signal or if someone outside of the market is getting it instead. People living in Roanoke Rapids (the city of license) get Raleigh locals.

I know there are errors in DISH's tables ... WVLA 5262 has the code for Lafayette, Indiana, instead of Lafayette, Louisiana. WVLA is not available and it certainly won't be available in Lafayette, IN. But I believe WUNP is right.

I suppose the question is if Stewart or anyone else in that market can confirm receiving the signal or if someone outside of the market is getting it instead. People living in Roanoke Rapids (the city of license) get Raleigh locals.

Ok... I checked, and I do see 36-00 on my 622.

What's strange... is that it appears to be airing what is on my OTA 4-02... whereas the 4-00 that Dish carries for Raleigh DMA is showing 4-01 content.

So I'm kind of confused. It would appear Dish is now carrying my local PBS 4-00, and another 36-00 but they are airing different content, at least at the moment anyway.

Not sure what the purpose here is, unless they messed up in the uplink... since PBS in SD has been available for quite a while in Raleigh via Dish.

It appears to be an attempt to carry the subchannels of your local PBS.

WUNP is a licensed non-comm educational station in your market so they deserve carriage of one of the subchannels. DISH is carrying a portion of the signal that isn't a duplication of the other UNC feeds.

That could be interesting. A shame it can't be mapped down but I guess that would be a nightmare.

I have 4-00 (SD via Dish), 4-01 HD OTA, 4-02 SD OTA, and 4-03 SD OTA.

Now I have 36-00 (SD via Dish) which appears at the moment to be the "02" subchannel content.

IF that was their intent, then that's cool for folks that can't pick it up OTA like I can.

I agree ... I left mine the way my parser spit it out - it was more than a simple rename, technically 158 Fuse was deleted and 158 Paladia was added. My parser only calls a channel a rename if nothing else changes within the core information for the channel. There have been a couple of channels showing up as deleted and added in the same report that should have been "renames" but not too many.

Note that Fuse on 5873 in the test range got the EPG data. This makes me wonder if there is a possibility of the channel returning (after a contract dispute is settled). It also reinforces my though about the other recent 507x channel additions, We AMC and IFC. I would not be surprised to see those three pulled in a contract dispute at any time.

This is all a little odd to me... I guess they are making SD versions for preview so people with legacy SD-only or MPEG2-only receivers can "see what they are missing" and entice them to upgrade to not only the channels but new equipment.

That would be my take on it, as well. If you're going to offer a preview, which is an enticement to get people to upgrade their service, why limit the audience? If you can get an HD viewer to upgrade to a higher package, that's great. But if you can get an SD viewer to upgrade their package, and upgrade their equipment to HD (entering a new commitment) that's even better!
