This is a very intermittent problem. Sometimes when I am changing channels on my 508 I get a message that there is an error in my muti-(something) switch and that I need to test the switch. When I test it I get a message that says that it was verified and then my channels come up without issue. This has happened several times since I moved back in April, and it has done it twice in the past couple of weeks. Any ideas? Should I contact Dish about this? Thanks!

I assume that you have a twin lnbf on your Dish 500. The switch inside of it may be going bad or you have lost the signal on the 110 or 119 side.

You could try swapping ports on the LNBF. Sometimes one output goes bad or intermittent and the other one's OK. If that's the case replace the LNBF, esp. if it's still in warranty and you have 2 receivers.

If you have the old Dish 500 with 2 duals just replace the SW21 switch.

BTW, you probably don't actually have to run the switch test every time you get the error message. Try manually tuning to one of the AT50 channels. If that doesn't work go to the PD&S screen but instead of running the switch test & waiting for it to count down just put it on Sat 119, Transponder 19. When the signal comes up you can hit the "VIEW" button & go back to watching TV. You may get the "aquiring sat" screen for a second but the channel will come right up.
