Well, as far as I know, I have to return the receivers. Since it will take a few days to receive the boxes for the receivers (what? I can't return the equipment to the local Dish office), will I have to return the SW-64 as well? What about the Dishes?

You can keep the dish but have to send back the LNBF's. I'm willing to bet you will have to return the SW-64 switch and remote controllers too.

You have to send back:
The receivers
The switch
and the LNBF

I have had some reports recently they are asking for the "Y" adapters also. Wait for the information to arrive from DISH then you will know for sure.

Just returned my equipment this week and that is what they asked for.

You get to keep the Dish and the wiring!

They will ask for the LNB back, which is just another way to screw you for cancelling because most people can't remove the LNB and just end up having to buy it!

I can't wait until someone falls trying to remove the LNB and sues

If I'm correct, then the LNB is the SW-64. It's on the ground.

LNB is NOT the SW64

Well, the boxes arrived today at work. Good thing I managed to get the last of The Amazing Race transferred over last night on VHS. Now, to check a part of episode one, then pack everything away. (Which will make my mom happy.)

No, I haven't opened the boxes yet. Will take care of that tomorrow afternoon.

What are the options when your contract runs out? I'm currently on DHP, and signed a 12-month. I still have about 5 months left, but just curious. Are my options:
a. cancel and send everything back
b. continue on DHP month-to-month
c. buy receivers, continue on non-DHP month to month, or contract plan?

If so, I'm no longer a new customer, so I have to pay full price for the receivers?

what is DHP?

I know I'm an idiot.

Digital Home Plan, where you the monthly fee is a couple bucks more per reciever, and you are basically 'leasing' the recievers from Dish, rather than buying them outright [or buying them and getting credits.]. The fee also includes a service plan on the recievers themselves.

I went with DHP at first because of A. the PVR [I didn't want one with a monthly fee like Tivo] and B. I was new to the industry, and didn't know anything about the hardware, so I didn't want to buy hardware and possibly buy the 'wrong' thing. Of course now I'm stuck, I think, either having to continually 'lease' the units, or plonk down cash and buy receivers. Or go to Direct...we're also moving next month, so that adds yet another wrinkle into it....

hmmm, I've been w/ dishnetwork for 3 years, I own all my current equipment, can I call and ask to be on the digital home plan and lease a pvr?

The only increase in fees compared to the non-rental plans is $5 extra per month. This supports up to 4 receivers, or 3 receivers and one PVR. Also, this charge includes a warranty for all rented AND non-rented equipment on the account. You MAY have non-rented receivers on the account but it's still $5 so why bother paying for the receiver? When you get a 301 for basically free.

the only new reveiver I want is a dvr. I already own 4 receivers that I got on clearance at Target about 3 years ago. I don't want to shell out $200 for a new dvr and just wonder if I can lease one.

Well, the 501 has been unplugged for the last time, and is ready to be packed away. Note to myself: Get a better switchbox.

Z'Loth, did E* request the LNBFs & SW-64?

SoonerDude - The DHP is only offered to first time subs. You wouldn't qualify.

I haven't opened the RMA material. I have to head back to college and do some math homework. :(
