OK, I had the Dish tech visit yesterday for the 3rd time. Of course, a different tech every time. Things still do not work on my system. Let me explain:

1. An installer came out and installed the base system. That went well, the only issue being that I had not ordered the PVR/DVR at the time of the initial order (as that was never explained to me by the high school drop out at the retail store) and I had to call in and order a DVR. No biggie, my bad for not doing research (I found this forum AFTER I ordered the Dish.) Anyway, the installer told me what I had to do, and after the PVR came in, everything worked GREAT :hurah: !

2. I ordered the 61.5 satellite dish for local channels and to get ready for HD TV (although it seems that is OBE with Super DISH). So, the next installer shows up, takes 3 times longer than the original installer to hookup the second dish, and cannot get anything to work. In fact, my main 110 and 119 quit working after his initial installation. So, he spent more time to unf#^!k his installation, and was only able to get me back to the 110 and 119 satellites. He left @ 9:00pm with my blessing, as he did not know what he was doing. He said he would come back, but we never heard from him. :nono:

3. After one day, my upstairs system stopped working completely. I called Dish to complain, they scheduled another installer to come out. He said it was the LBN on the second dish. He replaced it, with a single LBN (according to the "switch test"). Now the 61.5 satellite can be received upstairs, but not down stairs.:nono2:

Am I right to believe that a 2 LBN is required for the second dish, as it is for the first dish?

Is it always this tough to get Dish Net going :icon_dumm????

It sounds like a cabling or switch issue causing the problem. Is there any sw-21 switches connected? Also if you have a Dishpro lnbf on the Dish 500 with the switch built in then you would need a dishpro sw-21.

What receivers do you have, how many, what type of switches did they install, did the Dish 500 have two lnbfs connected to a switch before the 61.5 dish was put up or did it have a twin lnbf where the switch is built in? Also does the 61.5 dish (Dish 300) have a Dishpro lnbf? Does the Dish 500 dish at 110/119 have a Dishpro lnbf on it? It will be labelled DP in black on the front of it if it does have one. Another thing to note is the type of wire that was installed if it has the correct 2.2 MHZ rating or not in which is required when you use Dishpro lnbf's with dishpro receivers. If you have legacy receivers you cannot use the Dishpro lnbf's on them.

I have a 301 and a 508 w/ 2 sw-21 switches.

did the Dish 500 have two lnbfs connected to a switch before the 61.5 dish was put up

The Dish had 2 LNBFs, but no switch. It had a twin lnbf.

Also does the 61.5 dish (Dish 300) have a Dishpro lnbf?

Unknown. The diagnostics say it has a single LNBF and it is connected to the dish 300, but getting no signal.

Does the Dish 500 dish at 110/119 have a Dishpro lnbf on it?

I believe so. The dishes are up on my roof, and I have not seen them closely.

The wiring type is unknown.

Thanks for the quiz! Now wut?:scratchin

It sounds like you bought directly from DISH Network and DNSC (Dish Network Service Corporation) was sent out to do the installations. You are now dealing with big corporation syndrome instead of your local dealer. The best suggestion I can give you is to email ceo@echostar.com and explain your problem with a polite threat to discontinue service and switch to DirecTV. ceo is Charlie Ergin president of DISH Network that should get you some service or a good reason to change service providers.

Unknown. The diagnostics say it has a single LNBF and it is connected to the dish 300, but getting no signal. From what you say here it would appear that a legacy TWIN is on your Dish 500 and a DishPro Single LNBF is on your 2nd dish. These are incompatable components. What the installer should have put in was a legacy dual LNBF to cascade with your TWIN by way of the SW21s.

It's also possible that you have a DishPro TWIN on the Dish 500. That won't work with the SW21s either. If both of your antennas have DishPro components they will have to install a DP34 switch or convert everything to "legacy" eqmt.

Sorry for your hassle but it's generally the "newbies" that DNSC sends out to put up "must carry" antennas on the theory that it should be an easier job.

I figured there was some Dishpro/Legacy compatibility issues with this on the lnbf's, receivers, and switches. I wonder how many others are having some of these same issues and how many problems this is causing Dish Network?

Jacob S & HT guy how about a Dish Pro twin on the 500 and a DP-21 on a Dish Pro single on the 300 without using a DP splitter it would not work the same way but the switch test would hold true. I don't think a switch test would recognize legacy equipment if the 500 was a DP Twin.

If the lnbf is DP (DishPro) and the sw-21 switch is not then it would not work. If the lnbf's were all legacy then the legacy sw-21 switch should work then. Having DP lnbf's would require DP switches as well. Since you do not have any legacy receivers you would not have to worry about the DP lnbf's causing a problem with those.
