Right now I have a Dish SW-64 feeding a 721, 7200 and 301 (using all 4 outputs of dish. I have a couple of old receivers and I'd like to add them to spare bedrooms. Do I need to add another dish and dual LNBF or is there a way to do this with an alternate switch and/or some kind of rf switch/amplifier. Thanks

you need 2 3x4 multi switches for 119/110 and 2nd 64 switch . You have to split 119 Odd,Even( using the 3x4 multi) same for 110 , and send each pair to both 64 switches . This way you can connect upto 8 receivers ....

Distribution with Two SW64s Using DC-Blocked Splitters and Three Feed-Through Loads for up to 8 receiver, 3 satellite location installation
Using this installation configuration, support for 2 or 3 satellite positions and up to 8 receivers is achieved. The following example illustrates satellite reception from 61.5, 110, and 119 servicing 8 receivers. Equipment required to perform this installation includes two SW 64 switches, six satellite grade 2 way splitters with one DC block output, and three “feed through loads” (these are NOT in line amplifiers). Conventional dual LNBF’s are required in this installation, do not use the Twin LNBF. Note: All splitters used in satellite TV setups must be rated for satellite reception and are typically labeled as being for “satellite” or specified 950MHz – 2150 MHz. Do not use TV splitters or those rated for 54MHz – 806 MHz. Professional installation of this configuration is recommended. Feed through loads will be available through DISH Network dealers late May 2000.

Still, if you don't have a probem with 2 Dish 500s the most practical way is to put up another one. You can buy a new DP301 system for under $150 which gets you another D500 w/DP TWIN LNBF for about $50. As you know, the new 301 will probably be more functional than your old basic rcvr, too.

Remember on DISH you can only have 6 receivers on 1 account receiver number 7 requires a new full price subscription. As long as you don't mind a second dish HT guy's answer is the most practical.

Thanks for the "heads up" on that one. I wasn't aware Dish had a receiver limit per account. Its not a problem - I won't be reaching that limit. But its good to know for future plans.

Now all I have to do is decide if I want to tackle this now, or wait and include superdish in the wild mix. I don't have HD yet (maybe in next year or so). But I do have locals.

if you want to wait until next year , Dish is supposed to release a splitter for dual tuner receivers like 721 .. This way you will just run 1 cable to your room and then attach the 1-2 splitter and send 2 cables to 721 . However this will ONLY work with dual Tuners so you can't split for 301s etc ..

Why will it work for dual tuner receivers and not two 301's?
