If you have 2 Dual LNB's (no internal switches combined with the LNB, such as the TWIN or QUAD or DISHPRO TWIN or DISHPRO QUAD) - yes. As you said, you can't use the Dish SW21 on D* equipment.

DTV just upgraded for free my entire system with free installation as we are getting local channels soon. I got a 18x24 IIIPhase dish and two new receivers. You can keep your old system and sell it.

Basicly the DISH 500 could be used with your standard 18" to add signals from 110 and 119. You would need to replace the 110 LNB with a sat "C" kit, if you have a DISH dual not TWIN LNBF on the 119 port you can use it. You will need a Directv PLUS receiver and a 4X4, 5X4 multi switch. SEE WHAT DIRECTV WILL OFFER YOU FOR AN UPGRADE?

Welcomee to DBSTalk Imstealth :hi:

Please refrain from cross posting in two different forums, I've merged the two threads together, thanks :)

Also, if you wanted to just use the Dish 500 for the 101 slot only you could set your skew at 0, take the Y bracket off, and put a square DirecTv lnbf in its place to get it to work. You could also keep the Y bracket on may be able to put a DirecTv lnbf on one of the slots for the lnbf.

I am not sure if the Dish Network twin lnbf's internal switch would cause you problems receiving the DirecTv 101 signal or not. If you do not set your skew at 0 then it will not make your elevation numbers on your dish true. It may cause you to have to raise the elevation more if the skew is kept the same as it was set to pick up Dish Network's 110 and 119 slots.

One thing I am curious about on a Dish 500 is if you set the skew at 0 and have two individual lnbf's on the Y bracket if they would both pick up the satellite you was aiming at such as 119 or if only one of them would pick it up. If both lnbf's would be able to pick up the same slot then one could use this to send a signal to four receivers using the same dish without having any switches if you do not have the Top 150 package or locals ordered or be a solution for DirecTv for the same thing. Since the dish is 2 inches bigger it would also help bring in a little better signal.

Jacob S for listing yourself as a satellite dealer you demonstrate little knowledge of your profession with the answer you gave.
Dishnetwork switches are incompatible with D* so nothing except a Dual Legacy LNBF will work with D*.

A DISH 500 may be 20" in diameter but the "Y" adapter aims the LNBF so that it does not cover the entire 20" surface each LNBF looks at about 18" of the surface. No it won't make a Quad out of two dual LNBF's it probably would be possible to find a compromise position where you could pick up one satellite on both LNBFs but at a reduced signal level from an 18" dish.

For mounting a rectangular LNBF (standard Directv) on a DISH 500 you have to modify the "Y" adapter, the bottom screw hole is cut out on a DISH LNBF it is solid on Directv LNBFs so either the mount or LNBF has to be modified to fit.

If you take the "Y" adapter off the rectangular arm as you suggested you have changed the focal distance of the dish which reduces the efficiency of the dish. You are not using the full surface area of the dish to capture signals.

I did not say that the Dish Network switches were compatible with DirecTv so you must have misunderstood me. I know they are incompatible. I just did not know if you could still tune in 101 to one DirecTv receiver with the built in switch in between because I have not tried it, that does not make me a dealer with a low amount of knowledge and am sorry that it made you think that when I posted what I did. I just get tired of the put downs.
