I live in central texas (austin, 78727). Which wing (148/61.5) should I use? Can I use both? I see that 148 is about 26 degrees up, and 61.5 is about 35ish if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately, 61.5 is blocked by some trees unless I mount a dish in the front of the house. 148 should be reachable from the back of the house, but I had issues getting any signal with it when I was trying to aim a dish at it today. But I _think_ it was my 721 playing with my head. I had to reboot it in order for it to re-lock on 119/110 after plugging in my original cable from my Dish500 again.

I thought I'd ask here, before I continued to waste more time on it. It's not real important that I get signal from a wing bird, but I thought I might as well since I have a SW64 w/ open ports and 2 extra Dish 300's sitting around the house.

Cheers!

My personal preference is to use the one that's higher in the sky, though the programming on 61.5 and 148 differ slightly. The higher bird will suffer a little less from rain fade. If you can qualify for CBS-HD, the NY station is on 61.5 and the LA station is on 148. The HD demo channel is only on 61.5. DISH does not officially support you getting both 61.5 and 148. I wouldn't go spending too much money on getting a wing satellite online, what with the switch of HD to 105, but if you don't intend to upgrade from your SW64 to DishPro equipment, then you might as well connect a wing satellite location.

Unless you are looking for Sky Angel programming the 148 satellite will work. I am located just north of Dallas and I can receive both satellites. I would recommend using a 24" dish for 148 due to the low look angle it is more prone to rain fade.
