Don't waste your money,
I watched their 480P "widescreen" all last season. It looks like crap to put it mildly. I get it OTA. All they do is stretch (partial zoom) the regular signal. It actually ends up cutting off the scores and game info at the top and bottom of the screen so that if you want to know what the score is , you have to switch to the SD station !!!!!
Oh and did I mention its also BLURRY!

First off, FOX Widescreen is NOT streched or partially zoomed. If that's what you are getting it, you have issues with your local FOX station. FOX Widescreen telecast are shot with 16:9 lenses on SD(480i) camera equipment, by the time it reaches your local FOX station, it's de-interlaced and line doubled to 480p. It pretty much workes the same as a Progressive Scan DVD Player. The biggest problem that FOX Widescreen has is that the quality varies week by week, some weeks outstanding, some weeks...well.
The games that are FOX Widescreen are the ones with the announcing teams of A)Buck, Aikman and Collinsworth B)Stockton and Johnston.
This week:
Rams @ Giants 1pm ET
Falcons @ Cowboys 4pm ET

I agree with the other post, if the game is the 16:9 game of the week it's true 16:9 and not zoomed/stretched or cropped in anyway. The graphics are all designed for a 4:3 display with extra 'room' on the sides to handle the smaller displays. While it's not HD it's better then 4:3 480i.

OK, I am going by what I remember they called it last season, they may have changed it for this season and bought new 16X9 cameras which would improve things I'm sure. What I saw from my local Fox DTV station was NOT impressive. It was NOT a 4:3 picture, but was stretched to almost fill my 16X9 screen without me doing anything to the picture. As I said before, scores and time remaining where cropped almost totally off the screen. It was blurry. I think this was the same technology they used in their first Superbowl fiasco a few years ago.
Lets hope this years games will be a marked improvement in PQ over last years.

It's your local station that's butchering the picture then, not Fox in this case. You might want to call/e-mail them if they continue the practice this year.
