I am thinking about getting the new 510, I still have the original 3900 receiver I got when I signed up 3 years ago. I have a dish 500, but the dish is pretty old, it isn't a quad lnb or anything like that. Will that old dish work with the new 510? If not, will the new 510 come with the new dish?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to DBSTalk SoonerDude :hi:

Yes, you're current Dish500 will work fine. DishPro receivers will work fine with Legacy LNBs and switches.

The 510 will come with the dish if you buy the 510 system but it will cost you $50 more when normally if you bought it, it would cost you more than that when buying the dish alone.

The dish that you currently have will work with any legacy or DishPro receiver so it will work with your current setup. DishPro lnbf's will only work with DishPro receivers. If you did get a 510 system then it would have the DishPro lnbf in which would not work with your 3900 receiver since it is a legacy receiver unless you bought the DP (DishPro) adapter in which costs about $75,which is about the cost of a new DishPro receiver or the cost of a used DishPro receiver.

Thanks for the help guys.
I am a little irritated that new customers get the 510 for free. I have been with dish network for 3 years and love the service, I also have been subscribing to the America's Everything Pak plus locals w/ 4 receivers, so my bill has been roughly $100/ mo for the past 3 years. Do you think if I threaten to give Directv my $100 mo, they might be willing to hook me up with the same deal they give the new customers?

I doubt they will give you the 510 for free even if you threaten them but its a possibility if you hold out and considering they would be getting $5 a month on the VOD fee plus all the money they get from you each month they would make up for some of the cost on the hardware, the whole amount in a period of 5 years.

Dish really needs to get the price of their hardware down.

I thought I don't have to pay the VOD fee if I subscribe to the America's Everything package. Am I wrong?

No, you're correct, you won't have to pay the VOD fee.
