I noticed the Big 10 Network is listed as being available only in sections of PA. I live in the Philly area. Can anyone tell me if they get the B10 network here. I'm currently a D* subscriber and we get B10 and 3-4 overflow channels. I'm thinking of switching services but no B10 will be almost as bad as no CSN for me.

I don't think the Big 10 Network is your local RSN in Philly. You can add the Multisports package though, you would get all the RSN, including the Big 10 Network and the NFL Redzone for $7 a month.

You would need to subscribe to AT120+ or higher (the plus sign is important) "AND" the Multi Sports Pack ($7.00 per month) in order to receive The BTN (Big 10 Network) if you are NOT in a BTN state (or it's "footprint"). I believe Philly is considered outside the BTN "footprint". Most likely, that part of PA that contains the area where the Penn State campus is located would be considered inside the "footprint".

I would have the same question about Nebraska. When Nebraska joins in July 2011, will I be covered? I live in Scottsbluff (western end of Nebraska), and much closer geographically to Denver than Omaha/Lincoln.
All of Nebraska HAS to be covered no question!

I would have the same question about Nebraska. When Nebraska joins in July 2011, will I be covered? You should be - but even Charlie won't commit to that now. It makes perfect sense that you would be covered but not everything DISH does makes sense.
Hopefully the contract specifies "markets with Big10 teams" and not a specific market list that would need amending. For now getting Big10 network (to see what you'll be up against) would require Multi-Sport. Next year is "to be announced".

The Big Ten Network is carried in all the Big Ten States as part of one's DISH Service AT100 or higher. So, when Nebraska comes into the Big Ten (officially), then the State of Nebraska will be included in the Big ten Network Profile.
What is interesting is the Philadelphia question above. By virtue of Penn State being in the Big Ten; all of Pennsylvania should be receiving Big Ten Network from Dish.
Of course, for $5.99, one can purchase the SportsPak which also includes Big Ten Network. That's how I get it in Colorado.

I'm thinking that the carriage agreements expire soon. I cannot be sure, but I believe that to be the case. In any case, the Big Ten should have negotiated their agreements with the distributors to add additional "Big Ten territory" in case expansion brought in additional states, but of course, I am one to believe that we are far from over in Big Ten expansion. And carriage agreements do run out.
Can anyone imagine the additional cost to the distributors if the carriage agreement automatically allows the Big Ten Network to charge for every New York and New Jersey subscriber, when currently those are setup as a la carte adds to a digital package or higher sports tier?
