View Full Version : Are these signals any good?
I just got Dish Network installed and I'm getting blockiness on ESPN 2 and ABC (LA feed).... I checked the signals and they average around 84 on sat 119 with a peak of 87 in trans 16 and the lowest at 79 on trans 15...... on sat 110, the average is 78 with a peak of 87 on trans 17 and the lowest at 66 on channel 29..... I live in Puerto Rico.....thanks in advance
As long as you get a "locked signal" you're fine. I believe it will lock on any signal greater than 50. The blockiness on some channels is not unique. Welcome to Dish!

I have been seeing signals locked at 38-40% but different transponders have different signal strengths so if you are barely getting one in then the weaker transponders may not have a strong enough signal for a lock. Its good to find your weakest transponder signal strength when adjusting the dish so that way you know you wont have a weaker transponder somewhere else when fine tuning. The transponder that is the weakest changes from time to time.
Also the higher the signal strength the less rain fade you will have. The signal will stay locked longer during a rain storm with a higher signal strength than if it was lower. When you start seeing some channels not coming in while others are still coming in then this is due to being borderline on having a signal lock in which means your weaker transponders have done lost their lock.
