Bob, the item is a 3 prong adapter. Your plug end on your receivers are 2 prong polarized plugs. The three prong adapter plug plugs into the power source, your polarized plug will plug into the the 3 prong adapter. The third prong on the 3 prong adapter has a wire attached which in turn will run from the 3 prong adapter and will be attached to the Antenna in connection on your receivers via a knurled nut. This will better ground your receivers. I understand that the new 510 receiver and the 311 receivers are supposed to be sent out with 3 prong power cords thus eliminating previous problems. I hear that they were sending these out to people with problems with the caller i. d. function on the 301, 501, 508 models.

I wonder what genius designed the unit with no ground connection?
I guess I did not realize that E* made any receivers that are not 3-prong... all of my (older) receivers are 3-prong.

Wonder why they deleted the grounded plugs in the first place?
Anyone think this will help?

When I was a Direct subscriber I had a couple of RCA receivers that were 3 wire with the gounding plug, I constantly had problems with lines on the tv screen which was caused by what was explained to me was a ground loop. I opened the receivers and disconnected the ground wire from the receiver frame and the lines went away. I now have a couple od 301's with the 2 wire polarized plug and no lines on the tv.
