Skew question here, folks. I'm cobbling together a system to be used ONLY for Dishnetwork at 61 degrees for international programming. The dish he has is a first generation RCA DirecTV plus dish, the one with two separate LNBs.
Switches, etc., aren't an issue, since it's only going to one receiver and we'll be using only one LNB. There is no internal switch that needs to be removed.
We're only going for one bird, so where do I need to set the skew (or TILT as DirecTV refers to it) on this thing?
Thanks! Mike Nassour

Mike,
Seems simple enough. Assuming that you place the LNBF
at the center focus, the skew/tilt setting matters only
because it can affect the azimuth and elevation angles.
Set the tilt to level (no tilt), and you can use the
conventional pointing angles for that slot in your area.
Set it to any other angle, and you'll have to adjust the
azimuth and/or elevation, because of the elevation
offset built into the dish. At that point, you're pretty
much on your own. OTOH, you can make it look very
strange. People will be asking, "What are YOU watching?!?"

With a DirecTV plus dish pointed at 61, they may wonder that anyway! :D
I (finally) found an RCA manual online and it appears that indeed the tilt setting for zero tilt is indeed right in the middle of the scale. Thank you sir!

As I'm sure you already know, Sky Angel is also at that slot.
It's now $12 per month, $120 per year, or $499 lifetime.
My opinion is that overall, the programming has steadily
improved over the years.
