I am absolutely stunned at this TV!!! :eek2:

A week ago today Rex TV delivered my new Panasonic 53" 16:9 format RPTV (PT53WX42)*. The OOB PQ on cable and sat was pretty darn good considering no initial adjustments. :righton:

I finally got around to tweaking it this week using the Sound & Vision DVD. Then today I rechecked the convergence, which needed only a few minor bumps since mid-week. The cable is straight basic cable (F-connector), and Dish sat is via S-video connection. DVD is via component connections. There are two very minor geometery issues which are hardly noticeable, but I see them.

Now, the hardest part is getting that big silly grin off my face. :D Not to brag, but I now have absolutely the best, sharpest, clearest picture I have ever seen on any TV short of HD. Even at 53", it is as sharp, or sharper than a good 13" (you all know what I mean). I am really amazed at the visible detai in even the better analog channels on Adelphia - it actually looks clear and sharp.

Whew! I don't even know how to act. Do I need to call someone and report this? I can hardly wait for HD, and then for a certified tech to fully calibrate my new baby when I get some hours on 'her'.

OH HAPPY DAY!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

How does it look with Dish on sd programs? If it looks good on sd and hd then you indeed have a great tv. If more people would use the dvd on sound and picture quality to calibrate their tvs then some on these picture quality complaints would vanish.

I think Dish and Directv might ought to think about making this a standard installation process, this would decrease churn and people would see why they picked satellite in the first place. It would also be a good advertisement for the neighbors to take Satellite. I along with most people in the country, did not even know what the tv 's picture should look like.

I recently calibrated the tvs picture and I must say the tv looks good now on both Dish , cable, and ota reception. I don't even see any artifacting at all . I had most of my controls for brightness ,contrast and sharpness to high. I reduced all with the help of a Sound & Vision dvd and it looks great.

I spent most of last year since I got this new tv trying to tweak the picture back and forth and now I don't even have to do anything to enjoy the picture. :D

Congratulations on a very cool new toy. Sort of makes it all worth while. Enjoy the heck out of it.

Post a picture of it once it is installed in it's final resting place. :D
