View Full Version : Picture Problem
Hi, I just have a question to ask you guys. Just to let you know, I have a regular Hughes receiver in the bedroom that's also hooked up with a vcr and there is major problems with the picture quality on that television. It will fuzz up with a loud noise and the picture turns grayish and white. After tapping the top of my tv it usually goes away and comes back later and sometimes again in the morning. I'm very confused because the other tv with the same type of receiver in the other room is just fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be?
Sherry,
If you are tapping the top of the TV, as opposed to the VCR or Hughes receiver, I would suspect that the TV has a short in the circutry that corrects itself once you tap the TV.
To verify, hook the VCR and Hughes to a different, known working TV. If the picture quality is OK on the second TV with the same equipment, the first TV is indeed the problem.
My bet is on the TV being the problem.

Could be loose cables. My son has a TV and VCR in his room. Occasionally, a fuzzy picture will show up. Tapping the top of the TV will make the fuzz go away. However, playing with the cables produces the exact same result.
I agree with Gor88. It sounds like the TV is the problem.
Thank you for the suggestions. I will check the tv and cables tonight.
I just wanted to thank everyone for the imput. The problem was my television. I took it to a repair shop and found out that the tuner was defected. Tv is working just fine now.
Thanks again,
Sherry
