I am fuming after I discontinue my service they send me a bill of $21.76. I call the customer service they told me that was the charge for the shipping label they send me to ship their equipment back. Has anyone else heard about this nonsense. :mad2:

It's a lousy policy, but it's been around about a year already.

Had service about 3 years ago and disconnected and charge was waived. (Long Story, but had to go to BBB and FTC with complaints before they reversed a number of charges after I disconnected.)

Feb 1st started the fee for returning DISH leased equipment. If you didn't want to pay you needed to return equipment before the policy went into effect. Too late now PAY UP.

I thought the charge for shipping a receiver back was $15.

Does that include the cost of shipping or is that a charge that just allows you to return the equipment? If one has to pay the shipping cost on top of the $21.76 it is plain BS and corporate greed.

One is free to pay for return shipping themselves if they don't want to use the label.

One would have to see the bill to figure out how $15 became $21.76. Several months of late fees? Another charge added?

Report them to the BBB and dont send them a damn dime. Columbia house tried pulling this with me and I told them not a nickel not a dime. I never heard back.

That's probably not a good suggestion if you value your credit rating. IMO

yeah, might want to know what you are talking about before you speak. Dish will first try and charge the CC on file, if that doesn't work, they will send it to collections. But hey, it's only a credit rating...right!?!?!

Oh please companies pull stunts like this all the time and no they wont ruin your credit if you dispute the charge either by credit card or collection agency. Like the other user said if you call and complain enough they will most likely waive the charge anyway.

I don't see a lot of incentive for Dish to waive the charge since the customer is no more.

I left DISH during the latter part of the July. I had some refund coming. DISH sent me the empty boxes, informing me of the $15 return fee. I fumed a little but figured they had me. DISH promptly emailed me the day they received the 622. My closing bill was about 6 bucks.

i know people down the street who cancelled E and they had to go on roof get this piece off of it. and then mail back all the equipment.

i told them they should charge dish the price for labor. I was like when did you apply for a job at dish your doing their job.

I'm suprised they dont have a guy come out to take everything.

another great reason why dish is horrible

If DISH asks for the LNB (the part off the dish) and you tell them it is inaccessible (such as being on a roof) they will waive returning that equipment.

Send a guy out to uninstall? Sounds good. Then DISH could charge a $95 uninstall fee. :)
