The DBSTalk Survivor: Pearl Islands Contest Coordinator shall be the sole judge of the definition of the term "limited".

Any weeks missed will not be counted in the overall results, but the DBSTalk Contest Coordinator shall revise point awards and poll values to attempt to make up for points lost. Should events outside of DBSTalk.com control force the closure of DBSTalk.com permanently, the contest will end at that point, and the prizes shall be awarded to the current leaders at the time of the closure.

17. Contest void where prohibited by law.

How to Enter Each Week:

1. Participants will vote in a minimum of four polls each week. Each correct vote will be worth a set number of points announced when the poll is posted. The participants with the most points at the end of Week 13 of Survivor: Pearl Islands will be the winners of the DBSTalk.com Survivor: Pearl Islands Contest. If a poll question is rendered invalid by events that occur in the show, all votes in that poll will be considered correct, and full points will be awarded to all participants who voted.

2. During the course of play, Bonus Polls worth varying numbers of points may be added at the discretion of the DBSTalk.com Survivor: Pearl Islands Contest Coordinator. In past contests, the Bonus Polls were the "randomizer" polls. As each week will contain at least 2 "randomizer" polls, Bonus Polls will NOT occur each week.

3. Polls will be posted one day after the airing of the week’s Survivor: Pearl Islands episode.

4. Weekly DBSTalk.com Survivor: Pearl Island Contest entries must be received by 11:59 PM Eastern Time the day before the weekly Survivor: Pearl Islands episode airs on CBS. The DBSTalk.com clock will be used as the official time for the Contest. If the weekly episode airs on Thursday, all Contest entries must be received by 11:59 PM Eastern Time Wednesday. Some Survivor: Pearl Islands episodes may air on another day of the week during the season. Air schedule and Contest schedule updates will be posted at DBSTalk.com.

5. Weekly DBSTalk.com Survivor: Pearl Islands Contest results will be updated and posted on the DBSTalk.com Survivor: Pearl Islands Contest Official Web Site (http://survivor.dbstalk.com/) on or before the second day after the airing of the week’s Survivor: Pearl Islands episode. Players will not be notified of weekly results via any other method.

6. The points will be awarded as follows:
Each week, participants will receive 2 points for every poll in which you vote. Weeks Before the Tribes Merge: As the polls will change from week to week, generally polls in the weeks before the Tribes Merge will be worth 1/2 of the points of the polls after the Tribes Merge. Weeks After the Tribes Merge: As the polls will change from week to week, generally polls in the weeks after the Tribes Merge will be worth twice the points of the polls before the Tribes Merge. In Week 13 (The Final Week), participants will vote in at least six polls. The final week will be worth at least 50 points. Please note the changes listed above for the points and the polls. There is going to be much more variation in what the poll questions are, and the point values assigned to the polls than you have seen in previous DBSTalk Survivor contests.

Special Bonus Points for Participation:
During Weeks 1 through 6, one participant who voted in all of the polls that week will be randomly chosen and awarded 10 points. During Weeks 7 thorugh 12, three participants who voted in all of the polls that week will be randomly chosen and awarded 10 points each. During Week 13, five participants who voted in all of the Week 13 polls will be randomly chosen and awarded 10 points each. Random point award drawings will take place after the weekly polls have closed and will be conducted by DBSTalk.com staff. All participants will be elligible for the random bonus points, including participants not elligible to win prizes. (That is if the name Mark Lamutt is drawn, I get the points for the week, even though I'm not elligible to win.) Vote in every poll during the Contest: 20 bonus points awarded at the conclusion of the Contest. Miss voting in 1-12 polls during the Contest: 15 bonus points awarded at the conclusion of the Contest. Miss voting in 13-24 polls during the Contest: 10 bonus points awarded at the conclusion of the Contest. Miss voting in 25-36 polls during the Contest: 5 bonus points awarded at the conclusion of the Contest. Miss voting in more than 36 polls during the Contest: 0 bonus points awarded at the conclusion of the Contest.
7. Participants do not have to enter each week to be eligible to win. Of course, your odds of winning prizes are better if you play each week. Good Luck from the Staff at DBSTalk.com and Dish Depot (http://www.dishdepot.com/)!

So Mark, according to rule 12, we will not be able to change the votes after they have been cast this time?

Mark Lamutt

Changing votes was a hack to the board that hasn't been upgraded to the new version of the board software yet. It's possible that at some point during the contest we'll get that feature back, at which time rule #12 will change, but until then there's no way to change a vote after it's cast.

Will we see the names of the people voting unless otherwise specified?

Mark Lamutt

Yes, you will get to see who voted for which choice, unless there's a specific reason based on a poll. In which case, all of the results will be hidden.

Some events happened today in VBBS land that may indicate that some of the board hacks that we used to have on here will soon be available for the new version. I'm hopeful that being able to change votes once they are cast will become available again here soon.

Mark,

what prompted the adding of this section?

Nothing in particular...I just realized today that it was the one situation that I hadn't thought to cover in the rules, so I added it to cover all the bases. And it's only right that I notify you guys of any changes or additions to the rules.

Believe me, we aren't planning on going anywhere. :)

Ok, as an AT&T employee I am always concerned and assume the worse when such statements are made :) hehe

Should events outside of DBSTalk.com control force the closure of DBSTalk.com permanently, the contest will end at that point, and the prizes shall be awarded to the current leaders at the time of the closure.

So if the world blows up... you will still send out the prizes? ;)

If I'm still alive, Mark at Dish Depot is still alive, and there's still a shipping company left, then yes. :)

Mark,

Any word on the Vote Change hack? Sounded like you were close to getting that back a few weeks ago.

I am kicking myself over one of my selections for this week and wish I could change it. Not asking for any favors, just wondering if the hack will be back any time soon.

Mark Lamutt

No word yet...unfortuantely, I have no control over how fast the VBBS team releases software... :)

Um, it is now 8:15 PM Pacific Time and the polls have already closed.
I thought the closing time wasn't for 44 more minutes?
What gives?

I suggest you send Mark a PM with your desired vote so that he can include you in this weeks poll.

The polls were supposed to close just after midnight, but the time change last weekend messed them up since there is one more hour this week, and the polls were set prior to the time change. Obviously the new software didn't take that into consideration.

Looks like Mark is being nice and accepting PM'd votes and extending the time. Pretty generous. ;) Almost wish I'd waited to the last minute to vote this round.
