Has anyone ever counted?

Just some early morning musings but I was thinking... Dish 500 IIRC was marketed as a satellite system that could bring in 500 channels. With all of the PPV's, HD's, AEP, superstations, international channels, hidden channels, etc.. exactly how many channels is Dish currently transmitting?

I know to get everything you would need a setup that can see four of the five satellite locations and can receive HD... right? I would guess only a Dish employee or a hacker would know, i was just curious to see if they actually have gone over the 500 number.

It been mentioned before & I don't remember the exact number but I believe it is over 1000 channels.

That seems like more than 500.

Remember, that includes a lot of locals, most of which are on spot beams.

I think if they call it Dish 500 that it should be capable of bringing 500 channels to one person (not counting locals in all the other markets).
