My neighbor is thinking about the $199 - 6000 deal as he has a HDTV. He currently has a 500 dish & a 300 dish servicing 2 - 300 receivers. He thinks his dishes are Dish Pro. His question is will he need new switches and / or a legacy module for the 6000 if he takes the $ 199 deal which will add to the cost or should he just wait for the 811.

He asked me because I have the same Dishes but they are legacy equipment with a SW64 switch for 2 - 6000s and a 301 receivers. I really do not know what he would need to get besides the 6000 receiver so any advise is appreciated

Thank you - I will pass on any info I can get to him.

Get the $199 6000 deal AND the Superdish deal.

Upgrading to the Superdish will definitely be cheaper (especially if the secondary local channels in your market will be available on the new satellite - they gave away free dishes (AND switches) when they came up with the side satellite solution in the first place).

Going with the Superdish will be free as long as you commit to AT50 + Locals for a year OR commit to the HD pack for a year.

Hard to spit at THAT deal.

He would need a DishPro adapter to use the 6000 with his existing setup.

Thank you Bob & Joseph. I will pass that along.

I will be adding a 811 and Superdish also - as soon as they are available. As I get the LA locals including CBS-W HD perhaps with the Superdish I can remove the model 300 (second dish) as well.
