I have a Zenith 420 and had a Samsung 151. I returned the 151 after having it a week due to high pitched noises it made. I've had the 420 over 6 months.

I like the Zenith but want sat HD as well. I'm tempted to sell the Zenith and use the money for a $199 6000. Anyone compare these units for OTA or care to comment on how close they will be in use?

I like the Zenith but it isn't all that advanced, namely no DVI or dual live HD and SD so they should be comparable, I just have read about a number of smaller issues on this board with 6000s...

Thanks.

I heard that the 6000 OTA is noisey, but I don't own one. I would like to know the answer to that too.

It has an annoying fan, but it is not really that loud, it just drives you crazy when the room is silent. It goes away as soon as you turn on the TV. I would compare it to one of those miniature refridgerators.

I posted this on another thread, but has anyone pulled the fan and swapped it for a quiet one? Easy to do?

The fan noise may not be an issue if it's replaceable, as my 501 is somewhat loud, but in a cabinent it goes away. The Samsung I had and replaced had a high pitched whistle similar to a TV with no signal, but much louder. This is something that I couldn't live with or fix and could hear out of it's cabinet.

Otherwise how is are the stretch modes, channel reception, channel change speed stability of it vrs a OTA box?

The 6000 does not do will with OTA Analog, if that is any concern. Other than that, I have no issues with PQ or reception.
