Package launch date = September 16, 2003. Not available at the current time.

HD NET and HD NET Movies to Tp 7.

ESPNHD and Discovery HD Theater to Tp 17.

Both Tps are 8PSK.

Discovery HD Theater remains on 61.5 and 148 as well.

<Speculation on>
Soime Channel moves were made on 119 to improve PQ on ESPN, ESPN2 and some of the Sportsnets which will have NHL and NBA.

Hi!

This question is more out of curiousity than any concern. I have a 6000U with both 8PSK & 8VSB. I am currently getting DiscoveryHD off the 61.5 satellite. Once Dish starts mirroring DiscoveryHD on the 110, how will my receiver handle TWO DiscoveryHD channels?

That is, how will the receiver pick between the DiscoveryHD it is picking up from the 61.5 and the DiscoveryHD it is picking up from the 110? Will they show up as two separate channels on the guide? Or will it use some sort of algorithm to pick between them?

I have my 6000 hooked up to both the 148 and the 61 satellite's the channels are doubled in your guide. But as JohnH said DiscoveryHD will likely stay on the fringe satellites.

I bet you'll likely receive DiscoveryHD Theater to two separte channels. Likely the existing DHD on 9420 will only be available to people who remain on the $7.99 DHD plan. If you upgraded to the new HD Package, then you'll get DHD on whatever new channel number it gets assigned too.

This is just my best guess, nothing to back it up. Take it with salt.

That sounds like a pretty good guess to me, Cyclone.

I'm not as dumb as I look.

Actually the Discovery HD Theater on 110 has a different channel nimber than 9420. So no problem, unless you expect to get that one without subscribing to the new HD PAK, maybe. :)

I would like to see the Dish Demo and CBS- HD E&W go to 110 so I could dump 148 & 61.5 dishes. I guess we may have to wait for Superdish for that to happen.

John,

What symbol rate and FEC is Echostar using on those new 8PSK transponders at 110?

I have my 6000 hooked up to the 61.5 satellite only - no switches to the others. I was told that I will get the new channels on 61.5 and not have to buy the switch to connect the 61.5-dedicated dish to the Dish500 dish.

I hope the CSR is right. The switch (sw64?) is expensive.

SR 21500
FEC 2/3

Same as the others on 61.5 and 148.

When, if ever, do you see E* adding Show HD and HBO HD West Coast feeds? I am really tired of having only East Coast feeds, not everyone wants to watch the 8pm movies at 5pm Pacific time. With the new HD package, I would think now is a good time to add them.

Well, it ain't very likely as the other channels are not there.

SW 21 and a dish pointed at 110 only.

Perhaps sometime after SuperDISH is out. Not before.

I would be okay with that, I have been waiting a long time, a little longer won't hurt (that is if they do add them!).

The CSR was wrong. The new channels (HDNets and ESPN) will not be on 61.5. So you won't get them. Good news is that a SW21 switch will combine a Dish500 and Dish300 fairly cheaply.

JohnH,

New 8PSK transponder 14 working now at 148 W - look likes it's the place for new HDTV channels.
I got the info from other site : 4105,314,14,148.0,12413540,L, 21500.0,2/3 ( hope you know how to decyper this numbers ).

From same site more info about channels there:

HDTS6 9977 00 00 09 2328 91 314 14 148.0 0 00 PSK8_HDTV
HDTS7 9978 00 00 09 2328 91 314 14 148.0 0 00 PSK8_HDTV
HDTS4 9979 00 00 09 2328 91 314 14 148.0 0 00 PSK8_HDTV
HDTS5 9980 00 00 09 2328 91 314 14 148.0 0 00 PSK8_HDTV

P Smirh,

It has been 8PSK for some time. Engineers need something to test with. :)

I'm using two SW21's with two dual LNB's to get Dish500 on my 501 and 301 so I am combining four cables to two with one going to each receiver. The 61.5 dish is a 3rd cable from the 61.5 dish only going to the 6000. So, I need a switch for two Dish500's in and one 61.5 dish in and three out for the three receivers. That's why I'm told I need the SW64. It's the three receivers that's messing it up. Makes sense or am I missing something?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Akmango thanks for registering at DBSTalk and welcome to the board :hi:

You are correct. For a three satellite location and three receiver set up the simplest solution would be a SW64. Run 6 pieces of coax (one from each output on the three LNBs) into the SW64 and run three coax lines going out to each receiver. You’ll have room for one additional receiver, or to replace one of your current receivers with a dual tuner PVR in the future. The switch should come with little dummy covers to cover and protect unused in/outputs.

I've searched for the SW64 and can only find new ones for around $145. I know this question should probably be in one of the other forums but do you have any idea where I can find a SW64 cheaper - even if used? I was hoping that the CSR was right that the new channels would be on 61.5 and mirrored on 110. She said she even asked her supervisor.... Think it would do any good try and get Dish give me a free switch (or reduced price) "so I can subscribe to the new channels"?

SW64s have sold on here and at DBSForums for around $75 recently. You could also check out ebay.

If they added West Showtime and HBO then that would be a lot of HDTV channels:

Disc HD, HDNet, HDNet Movies, ESPN HD, CBS East, CBS West, HBO East, HBO West, Sho East, Sho West, HD Events, HD Demo, HD PPV. 13 channels of HD.

To someone who knows: Is the eventual plan to kill all HD off of the wings? We know it'll be killed off the main slots around early next year. This is good; they can use the extra transponders for new SD channels, locals, or improving PQ.

Akmango, Marks got the right idea, try Ebay and making a Wanted To Buy (WTB) post in our Buy, Sell and Trade area, if there are no other current posts for users selling their SW64s. I agree, the SW64 is a pretty expensive monster. There is some debate on this, but considering how much you're going to pay, I would try to make sure the switch can be installed inside, so it's not in the elements.

Please excuse my ignorance, but it's been awhile.....
How do I tell if I have 110? I know I have 148 for the West Coast feed. I have a Dish6000/8VSB/8PSK,
currently receiving the Top100 package along with my locals, and DHD Theater, CBS-HD, Showtime-HD, HBO-HD, HDPPV. Will I get the new HD channels by just having a Dish CSR activate my account with the new HD package?

mds54, what locals do you have?

Also, do you know if you have a DISH500?

Do you have a channel 9900 show up in the guide? If so, then you are looking at 110.

Locals are for SF Bay Area.
I don't know about the Dish500....I know I have
two dishes connected to the Dish6000. I'll have to research this once I get home!

mds54, on your 6000, try:
Menu, 6, 1, 8, arrow down to Check Switch and press Select, then Select View. This will show the Satellites your receiver can see and which Switch model you have. Cancel out of everything when you're through.

Okay, now that I'm home I can check my system....
I do get channel 9900 and it says "Congratulations, you have a Dish500 system." I also did the "Check Switch" sequence, and it shows 110 West/119/148 locked in. I guess I'm good to go!
Thanks Foxbat, Steve Mehs, and JohnH
