Ok after browsing through these forums, I'm still a little confused. I'm doing some research for my Dad who got an HDTV but has no HD signals to watch. It is my understanding that Dish is the best for HDTV. Now my question is what channels will be offered in the new HD pack that is starting on 9/16? And what equipment is necessary to watch the HD, is the 811 even out yet? And what is the point of the superdish if you can already get hdtv from regular dish. Also where do you get all of this info from it doesn't seem to be on the dish webpage. TIA

I agree it is confusing. I went down to the E* place here in town on my lunch break, and I knew more about what was going on than they did. I plan on waiting untill the end of the year, by that time the dust will have settled and I can just pick up my 811 and superdish at one time.
Check out http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/products/hdtv/index.shtml and you'll see what's CURRENTLY available. In a week (9/16) you'll be able to add the HD Theater Pak which will include Disc. HD Theater, HDNet, HDNet Movies, and ESPN-HD. If you have HBO, you can get HBO-HD (with a 2nd dish pointed at 61.5W or 148W); if you have SHOwtime, you can get SHO-HD, if you qualify for CBS-HD, you can get that. If you have a dish pointed at 61.5 (only), you can get the HD-DEMO channel. In addition, you can get the HDEVT special events channel and HDPPV ($5.99/movie) pay-per-view channel. Today, the Model 6000 is required (with the 8PSK adapter). Superdish is for even more FUTURE offerings and will be eventually required for HD when the current HD Theater Pak offerings are moved off the core satellite(s). To keep the dogs from devouring Dish, they "tossed us a bone" by putting these 4 channels on the core locations for now -- they WILL be moved to the superdish bird (105) at some point in the future (probably next spring).
