Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems said it was awarded a contract to build an A2100 model satellite for EchoStar, the 10th satellite to join the company's fleet.
The satellite, designated EchoStar X, is scheduled launch in third quarter 2005. Lockheed Martin said the satellite will be located at 110 degrees.
The A2100AX spacecraft has a minimum service life of 15 years. EchoStar X will be the sixth satellite built by Lockheed Martin for EchoStar. The high power Ku-Band bird will provide satellite TV services for EchoStar's DISH Network, and back-up for other satellites in the EchoStar fleet.
